To make the transition to full mage when prof is too low. Very safe and still attack on everything. Not as fast as mage but not bad at all.

would it still be a convenient choice with this patch? personally i'd see something like keeping your profs at zero and then casting a couple of spells in a RE way more efficient...

Also extremely cheap, even 200 level can afford whole set and play with it at max diff. When i tested full mage was barely faster than 1h mage. And at the same time i couldnt clear pffest above 300 round without scrolls and other stuff, but easy did with 1h mage. So its more like same clearspeed, but extremely big difference in defense. However if we talk about top players then full mage becomes better because few reasons:

1. Flexibility. 1h mage works (good result) only with imperil, that means something below pf is undesirable. And same goes for sg arenas. Difference in clearspeed is minor because full mage doesnt have very high t/s. All monsters die fast and most of time we either cast imperil or select next target. In case of 1h mage damage is lower and our t/s increases, it makes compensation. Thats quite funny effect. Thus wasting less time + counter attacks and ofc makes difference quite small. But in case of sg its quite obvious even full mage can get very high t/s and 1h mage just makes lower damage.

2. Because that effect, pouring credits to 1h mage set doesnt give very big result. Clearspeed becomes better, but we start to lose our advantages too. So difference between like 1-2m set and 500m set ll be quite small. But difference between 20-50m full mage set and 500m is quite clear. Also usually person with such credits is close to 500 level and it also makes big difference comparing to 200-300 levels. Mostly in defense and even more is just useless.

Thus there is sense to use 1h mage and adjust playing (less sg, more pffest) when budget is low, but when person have credits anyway then much easier to use something like holy style with full flexibility between low/high diff and any mode with maximal clearspeed.

The main benefit of 1h mage is relatively high clear speed combined with high shield defense. Yeah, 1h mage doesn't have much proficiency often, but that's not really a big issue in why someone would use the style.

But the range of the big prof gain shrinks very quick. So without enough exp bonus and assimilator training, i cant see it been even a bit easier to get max prof then before.

Wouldn't IWBTH actually be better since imperil is resisted much less often?
Besides, difficulties lower than IWBTH have been nerfed with the 0.85 update and are all undesiderable.
