well, i had the chance to purchase a few "broken" peerless. like an ethereal oak of focus, a tempestuous katana of balance, a couple of cottons of protection... someone wanted to hoard their first peerless for sentimental values, but some people were happy to retrieve 50k from them...

The second guy has been very annoying for me. I really wanted that shield, because although it's not as good as a force shield can be, it's a Peerless and it doesn't require modulators to upgrade. I'd have preferred Reinforced instead of Mithril though.

If you do the math on credits spent per block% (the most important stat), I think you'll find that Force shields are better in every situation, especially if you're going to forge enough to start spending a few HGW. DMMs don't cost enough (anymore) to be enough of a factor, in light of Kites' significantly lower block. Add in the chance of getting a SDE rather than SEA and you might well be better off in the end having not gotten the Kite.

@Super:
Yeah, I haven't really thought about the extra forge levels needed to get the same result. I guess I was too focused on costs on a short-mid term. But from my perspective, one won't be very picky on the quality, as long as it's Leg/Peerless with decently appropriate prefixes/suffixes.

But then, if it was an actualy very good Force Shield, I think it'd have gone for many millions.

if you looked at my Peerless collection and then at vriska's collection, you'll understand immediately (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

however, let's say he has the funds to purchase peerless versions of useful gears. so he has a rich-tier peerless collection. i don't, so i'm happy enough with a poor-tier peerless collection (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

seems that all the further hits will be of the same kind of the first one. in particular, if the first is a crit, then the following ones will be as well. you just have to be lucky at the start.
