Even with 70m good luck getting two half decent charged pieces with everyone focusing on efficiency these days (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/duck.gif)

Better yet buy peerless *insert ele* forge 5, buckler + waki full forge clear gf fest 15k turns clear as fast as fully forged 1h set (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/faint.gif)

Sadly pffest is almost the only good place for 1h mage.

I paid my current equipment of the 1H persona + holy mage persona ~50M, and that means everything combined (ok, rapier, 2 slaughter pieces and the 98% EDB charged robe are self-drop and the staff is from lottery, but still, 70M is bonkers).

If you don't aim for the absolute best you can get very good deals.

If you first buy a starting set, and then upgrade, do you want to count only the costs of starting set? Or costs of becoming powerful enough for pfudorfest? Because arena's can be done with elemental set of about 15m + costs of essential elemental perk. But to get to PFudorfesting, I have spent much, much, much more on equip than 50m, plus then a lot on forging, and I bought all damage perks for good measures. 70m won't cover that.

I don't think kyouri counted upgrades and perks in the 70M.

Noone who can would actually bother to do it so I wanna do it myself, and if it's viable I can skip temporary tier staff and wait for an "endgame" one.
Everyone talked about how mage needs to stay alive first before dealing damage, and how cast speed helps with surviving, and how willow staff isn't that advantageous with extra counter resist, but noone ever consider 1h which more than doubles your chance of survive in trade of 30% damage lost, because they've already be able to clear arenas in pfudor anyway.

I don't think it's a fair comparison to look at endgame pieces when I'm trying to put together a serviceable armor set first. Charged and Radiant pieces can come later.

So babby's first mage set seems affordable. Even Peerless [filler prefix] Phase pieces are more affordable via auction than I thought.

I think so too.

If it was me, I'd aim for trash-EDB Legendary Charged, they probably cost 3m or less. Forge them to 10 and you'll probably be able to perform pretty well, especially if you use Imperil.

When (if) you upgrade armors again, you'll probably spend some tens of millions, and you'll have lost only the cost of the first gear plus 200k and some spare change from salvage losses.

For staff, don't go for the popular types if they cost too much, one with a proficiency or EDB suffix will work fine if you're just trying to take your first step as mage.

Well, a staff that good is pretty unlikely to come around again for the next foreseeable future, and final bid price for gears that rare and desirable is somewhat flexible. So if you had the funds and didn't see the opportunity coming around again, and if you're sure you want to stick with that element, it's not that bad of an idea to pay a whole lot for it, if getting together a great set is your goal.

I say just go for the best!
Give those rich folks a run for their money.

There is nothing more entertaining in HV than a good bid war and throwing big money around (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/heh.gif)
