I wouldn't be concerned. With H@H, multiple copies of your fapping material is distributed across the entire globe, so all the good stuff won't go down with a server raid.

Almost all doujins are also mirrored on the N site, so you won't experience any fapping downtime too.

The H@H raw content is pretty useless without all the metadata to put it into galleries, with categories, tags, etc. And you're almost guaranteed to have holes in your content since the block allocation doesn't attempt to give you contiguous galleries (and maybe this is intentional so as a rudimentary form of load balancing for H@H nodes)

EH honors copyright claims so I'd say it should be safe.
I think there is also a lot of difference between niche fan-translated porn comics and ripping of mainstream animation series/movies/OST/etc etc.

Okay, so I'm a bit spooked by all the talk about the owner shutting down Nyaa. But through the power of rational thinking, I think this shouldn't be the case.

It would be one hell of a coincidence that both the owner shut down Nyaa and at the same time, the registry decide to suspend the domain names.
It would seem unlikely that he would give up just because he lost a couple of domain names.
It would also seem unlikely that he would asked for the domain name to be suspended after he shut down the servers.

The servers shouldn't have been raided and the owner shouldn't have been caught because throughout history, domain name seizures come after these events.
They don't happen before the fact because they don't want to spook the target and they don't happen at the same time because there's no reason to do so.

So to conclude, nothing major happened and Nyaa should be back within the week!

Update:

There are several people suggesting that the domain names were taken down by the owner. The org domain also has a “pendingDelete,” which could back this up. When a domain is deleted before the expiry date it could trigger a “serverhold” status, which is generally set by the registry.

There are also some screenshots in circulation that would back this up. However, TorrentFreak hasn’t been able to verify these.

We can only speculate, but given that the domains were registered through different companies, manual removal by the owner would be a plausible explanation at this point. The article was updated to reflect this option.

Its the biggest torrent index site and tracker for anime related stuff.

Personally, its a long time since I used it but it has always been symbolically significance. Think of it as a beacon of the anime sharing culture.

Anyway, that doesn't matter now, officially dead now. It's been confirmed the owner pulled the plug.
