I'm not really in favour of stricter rules (the fact that I don't like something doesn't mean it's wrong and should be banned), I'm thinking of a way to incentivate earlier bids, when I'll have a proposal I'm satisfied with I will post in the auction system discussion.

Well, since a bid extends the time by 15 minutes there can't be actual sniping anyway so I cannot see what's the big difference between Super's auctions and past auctions.

I think I made it pretty clear that I don't care about that, I put a bid to see if I could get a slaughter with good range for less than 10M, I'm completely ok not winning that (it's not even the first helmet I bid on, I always get overbid because I want to get if for cheap), I'm not ok with proxy bidding being used in that way, because it's exactly what Super wanted to eliminate with proxy bidding.

I guess I misinterpreted your first post, I apologize. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/heh.gif) I think the bot bidding system was mainly designed to make the bidding easier as well as providing an opportunity to participate for the people that can't be present during the closing time. It serves its purpose well and everything else is just a bonus.

I happen to agree with Super and I think doing so is rude to other participants and disrespectful of the work he has done do disincentivate this behaviour.

Frankly, yes, I disagree. I don't see what's rude about it at all. Someone had been winning some item for X days, but then someone else with more money came along and bought it? Well, that's just how auctions work. The bidding is open to the last second for a reason.

It depends on when you bought them. Some months have significantly less activity than the others so things may be cheaper. And of course when several people are badly interested in something the price rises too. Matra sure made those toys expensive today. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

For a while there were a few people that would bid against me to raise the price of auction items for their friends if they knew my WTB price. Bastards. There was one auction where the price was getting too high and I was sure thats what they were doing so I stopped bidding after 35m, then three people withdrew all their bids and the price crashed back to 18m.
