long time ago when i tried firefox it was ~3x slower than chrome, not sure how it works now.

Not installed any extensions and disabled all unnecessary plugins.

v35 is the latest version that doesn't occur the flicker issue.

Like the others said try uninstall and reinstall. And are you using a hv only browser?
