tbh, consider the extra hurdle to do Niten, it's really underwhelming.

getting the right gear can be quite expensive. then there's an extra kick to your balls when you've to grind 2 different proficiency separately. which can mean you essentially need to have 3 sets of gear for your Niten to kind-of "work".

I don't feel that the proficiency thing is a hurdle. Whenever I level one run of Power Flux and Endgame on Hell difficulty gives me the next point of proficiency in 2H and DW (Assimilator maxed). Plus you can use the same armor no problem. I do agree with the expense of getting just the right weapons.

I'm inclined to think the same way. All weapon/armor proficiencies can be gotten with no effort at all - you don't even need a "set", just a weapon of the right type, regardless of quality. (And unless you're more than 20 levels ahead of your proficiency, the effect will surely be unnoticeable). The equipment requirements are pretty similar to those of other fighting styles: 5 good armor plus 2 good weapons, nothing else.
