What use are eth weapons now, anyway? Bleed is usually a much more effective way of killing the lower-class special monsters and the Ultimates are resistant to everything but their single weakness and the resistance fix makes it so you might as well be throwing dirt clods at brick walls. do believe they still useful,
if...
1) They dropped as something useful, and not the darn dagger, club, staff, etc...
2) It has the same stats as a "good" normal weapons, which I believe to be possible in theory.
3) People stop creating the god damn mechanoid! (IMG:[

I do think it still better than a normal weapons and I still use one of them regularly. It seem to be that most mobs had lower mitigation against it so it appeared to me that it do (a bit) more damage and more reliable.
But because of the above conditions (mainly 1&2), and the fact that you use infinite amount of infusions and scrolls
**, made it almost impossible for Eth weapons to shine...

Talking about this kinda make me want to rant too! Here's go...
Tenb seem to put
a lot of efforts balancing any kind of melee style of play...
He increased overall stats of non-mage armor, but removed bonuses gained from armor proficiency.
He improved 2H weapons, but most of the shitty 1H is still the same.
He made weapon's proc in DW to proc more often, but with reduced power in most cases.
He improved 1H & 2H fighting style effectiveness, but tied it to player's LV.
He added DW improvement to Niten-ichiryo, but add nothing from 2H improvement whatsoever.
He made Eth to drop more, but made it less useful.
He made Heavy lighter and have resist, but refused to add more defense to it.
He added Shield Armor that can block, but with mitigation reduced.
He increased Tower Shield's block, but also reduced Kite's block.
He increased Katana STR & DEX bonuses, but removed the AGI.
.......
And probably more if I want to write any further...
Why is he spent the time doing this to melee when every veteran in this board knew melee sucks and when new player switched to mage, in their euphoric state, kept saying how good maging is compared to melee, is beyond me... (IMG:[

** This also ruins RoB challenges, which made a huge impact on HV in lots of ways, and it's not a good one...
