well, consider thay are used essentially only for 1H shade builds: best suffix is surely barrier for the bonus block - which can bring a LMax buckler comparable with an EMax force shield, but at almost no BUR/ITR; nimble can raise parry (but not resist), so i'd place it under barrier but still not so far away. someone is also looking for battlecaster, but i'm not sure if it's because it's actually viable or only because they have their own tastes.
as for the prefix, it's not that the BUR by a buckler isn't bearable (even for a shade set), so who cares about mithril. i'd say reinforced for the bonus mitigations or agile for the bonus speed, as you prefer. only elemental worth is zircon, as boulay suggested

Haven't used a Buckler of the Battlecaster yet though. Don't think it's worth giving up the better block. Nimble could be good too, I guess.

I also use a Rapier of the Battlecaster for DW. I just hate Interference. I have an Arcanist set too, which doesn't get much use because my all-4PAB Leg leather set is safer than a Exq+Mag Arcanist set.

But, there's a point where evasion/parry no longer mitigates enough and you need the highest mitigations and block chance.

Basically, PFUDOR mobs hit so hard in later rounds that evasion doesn't matter, only raw damage mitigations do.

If anybody wants to lend me a forged force shield, I'll let you know how far Force/Shade can take you.

I'm not sure that's forged enough for a good test. It has +1% block chance over my buckler.
