You don't really need to concern yourself with anything IW-related at your level, maybe some grinding proficiencies in crude iwbth aside.

So... Just do arenas and grindfest hoping for better items?

Credits, even. The chances of getting anything good via drops is rather poor, even at my level. Just clearing arenas at the highest difficulty you can manage will net you a decent amount, especially as you level up and unlock longer ones. The first clear bonuses will help immensely with buying better equipment as well.

If you looking for better gear, you can search out the "WTS" threads (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) There are several shops that have freebies for beginners (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

According to my sources, melees now do more damage than mages, while taking in way less.

According to some mages melee players can now clear 100 rounds in a single attack! (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) The reality of the situation is that mages have the advantage when it comes to speed, while melee has better survivability. It seems that many mages want to retain their speed advantage while also getting the same survivability as melee. You can't have it both ways. Personally I'm starting to think I should switch back to mage after seeing your comment here. I use melee because I want to stay on the higher crystal multiplaier for as long as possible, but if you can do BT rounds in 2-3 seconds as a mage then I'd be much better changing and repeatedly doing the first few hundred rounds on Battletoads. Somebody give me a fantastic mage set for free! (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) This post has been edited by TheTornPrince: Jan 11 2013, 03:25

But have you seen the likes of Celestia Lindwurm? That's what's to come for every single mage. Meanwhile, melees faceroll everything because even with chaos upgrades, PA negates ALL OF IT. Void makes sure that the damage melee deals are not reduced in any way. From my source, if both melee and mages forged to the max a set of legendary, melees with full power of slaughter, mages will deal only 2.4x the damage of melee in the long run, while taking at least 4x the damage (that's only from skill, discounting regular damage).

You could always just switch to melee if you think it's better. I was a mage up to level 293 but switched to melee when it became better for crysfest. I'm starting to think about switching back to mage again, but will have to look into it further.

Fortunately, faves are cheap. The first few, anyway. . . QUOTE 2652 / 5000 favorite slots used. Which is a big part of why I'm broke right now. That and wanting to see "Magnificent" from top to bottom on my Nif set. This post has been edited by PK678353: Jan 11 2013, 06:53

Right now melee is better in pretty much every aspect, especially with the changes to grindfest. With a forged set of superior max plates, you can go into round 1100 of IWBTH grindfest and get hit for less than regen can heal you, on average.

What assumptions are you making with those numbers? Level ~350, with Protection and Regen II up constantly, Sup Max PMI/END/STR and 40 forgings for Plate/Protection I assume? This post has been edited by PK678353: Jan 11 2013, 06:58

Level 300, actually. And you don't even have to have regen (not 2) up all the time, since you have parry/evade as well.

Mac question here, anyone know what the fastest browser is once you've added a small pile of scripts to it (HVMA, Inline Difficulty, Multiple Quickbars, Equipment Comparison, Magic Scores and Monster Lab Additions)?
I know it's Iron or one of the other Chrome derivatives on Windows, is it also Chrome on Mac? I've been trying Firefox since scripts on Safari are at best a gross hack and it is a bit sluggish once you add scripts.

What'd be the total PMI with that set? Taking that little damage when monsters deal 10x the damage sounds almost too good.

I think it was 95%. Or was it 97.5%? Either of those numbers. I do remember maxed legendary giving you 99.5% though.

We should have the same percentage on evade with maxed legendary Shade... (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/cry.gif)
