my balance rapiers are kinda not the best for fsm. Best (73% off hand strike) acc 20%/6 one is demonic / low damage so it takes longer due to poor Frenzy damage; PA maintenance is good. (hmm my demonic rapier just gained a PA turn.)
Other is soul, has abysmalparry, acc isn't that good (68% off hand), and 25%/3 turns seems to make it hard to have PA when i need to frenzy. I've had good luck w/ slaughter 25/5 (60% off hand) and much better frenzy damage.
bump: is chance of critical hit on off-hand attack same as your listed crit rate?

Offhand attack's only and always Crit whenever the Mainhand attack does, if an offhand attack occurs at all.

QUOTE(Ichy @ Oct 23 2012, 12:16) Balance? I always read it as Weapon XY of the Bazaar (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) Only balance worth anything imo is rapiers. And that's just cause of 7.0. Greater off-hand strike chance and greater odds of proc'ing PA rule over extra damage. Up to 77% off-hand strike on my rapier. Want to get it up to 80%. At least buying balance bindings is a shitload cheaper than slaughter.

For lowbies and what not Balance can be a good way to go until you find a decent Slaughter.

I'd prefer a good balance rapier too; i use one for arenas, but haven't found a good one to buy, and haven't seen any cheap hallowed ones to try FSM with. Due to wrong prefix, and substantial difference in skill damage, been trying out other rapier suffixes against FSM. I should make some observations, but somehow doubt the extra offhand hits while building up OC for skills will matter as much as the skill damage itself. might be different w/ hallowed balance.

They won't probably take off more than three turns if your rapier isn't ethereal either. You do want the offhand for PA during the skill tho that's another consideration even if it isn't ethereal.

I was messing with DW + Shade a little today. LOL it sucks so bad I did try for 75% parry, 2 sword chucks, axe & chucks, axe & rapier and some other stuff. I should go see how many turns it takes to kill FSM

Accidentally entered IWBTH FSM with a stupid vampire mace instead of my trusty ethereal estoc. Took me 1874 turns to beat his ass. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/faint.gif)

Quick question, how do you guys keep track of how many turns you take for an encounter?

It should automatically be in the battle log. The first number on the line of text is the turn number. Example: 1 6 You have escaped from the battle. 1 5 Old Turtle 6 crits you for 236 crushing damage. 1 4 Noihara Himari hits you for 279 piercing damage. 1 3 Baloth crits you for 292 slashing damage. 1 2 You gain the effect Fleeing. 1 1 You use Flee. 0 6 You gain the effect Protection. 0 5 You gain the effect Hastened. 0 4 Spawned Monster C: MID=5104 (Baloth) LV=242 HP=110519 0 3 Spawned Monster B: MID=23395 (Old Turtle 6) LV=241 HP=108780 0 2 Spawned Monster A: MID=10466 (Noihara Himari) LV=240 HP=115292 0 1 Initializing Item World (Round 1 / 72) ... 0 0 Battle Start! QUOTE(etothex @ Oct 24 2012, 04:47) ouch, can i ask why you had a vampire mace equipped (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) I wanted to test if I could keep myself alive with a vampire mace and trade my overcharge for hp, without casting regen or other buffs. It only works on easy difficulty though.

Good times. I like to think of it as the moogles just getting better with their craftsmanship and making it soft, pliable, and flexable as well as strong!

They pay the monsters with equipment and credits and crystals to fight us, and fake their own deaths, but of course the moogles and monsters don't seem to realize that we know that they don't die, so we play along with the farce, and steal what the moogles gave to the monsters. The moogles get mad about this so they make more and better items hoping to give the monsters a fighting chance, but alas, the monsters don't have any equipment slots, and the moogles are not smart enough to realize this. Some of the moogles of course have given up, which is why we get low quality and low tier equipment like crude cottons for IWBTH DwD. The repair and programming ponies of course watch this whole thing and just laugh, seeing how ridiculous the entire thing is, and plan to make it even more crazy in the future.
And this is a sign that I need sleep...
