can mages do 1000 rounds of BT without using any potions? Just how long would that take using ET. melee can do that.

No you can't go that far with mage you'll get instantly raped and ET is not an option in deeper rounds.

Mage was able to go deep inside when they where able to oneshot everything while never run out of mana.
Now even one resist of Eila can be enough to trigger a spark.
No chance to ET or leech SP deeper inside.

True. And I couldn't even if I wanted to.

On the other hand, though, the average user couldn't melee 1000 rounds even if he wanted to.

But meleeing is still less mana-consuming and more durable. It's much slower though.
