That was removed like 5 patches ago. The entire legacy system was removed.

Unless you want to use soul fire/soul burst for some reason, I think it's better to stack EDB for one.

With that said, varst said that he felt stronger with a mix of fenrir and heimdall, compared to straight heimdall, so I think you should ask him as well (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Well it's based on two assumptions:
1. It's easier to collect one set of mix phases with max EDB than two sets of phases.

2. You're playing on difficulty which you can't kill any monsters (thus reducing the number of counter attacks).

If these assumptions are true for your playstyle, then it may be better to mix phases (since you don't gain much benefit from stacking anymore)

Well if you leave a bunch when stacking one type of EDB, you are better off using explosions with a corresponding spell to maximize damage per turn, hence why using holy/dark you optimize for both.

Fenrir:

On the lower difficulties you one-shot everything.
On the higher difficulties you one-shot almost everything. Your secondary spell will clear the round, buffed or not.

There may be some room for a mixed suit on BT and IWBTH but seeing how much damage custom monsters deal nowadays I would stick to the method that kills most on turn 1 any day.

FSM on IWBTH:
Arena Clear Bonus: [Fine Cotton Gloves of the Spirit-ward] - with 1 PAB.
Noodle Appendage: [Superior Mace of Balance] - fifth in a row (same weapon, same prefix and suffix, same shitty stats)...and with 1 PAB, just to complete the image.

Currently I feel the urge to burn cities and kill people. Many cities and many people. Preferrably all of them.

haven't bothered much w/ crysfest, but felt like trying it out with the scythe i just recently got. It was interesting. Didn't use any potions til round 300, but then seeing how much damage i started taking, i didn't even bother. Never really seen the whole 1% stronger per round in action past round 160 or so in IW. my regen2 heals @ 557 per tick.

What difficulty do you do IWs at? The higher the difficulty, the more pronounced the 1% will be.

Crysfest/grindfest is usually stronger than IW since IW has additional modifier (less than 1) depending on the item's quality, thus reducing overall damage from monsters.
