I hope you're not mentioning Heavy because of my post; I made that post like a year ago as a sarcastic remark to Tenb doing nothing to Heavy despite its suckiness using the high ratio of people using it as a justification. (Heavy did work at low level at the time, so the ratio of people using it was high because most people are low level casual player) ... Anyway, I don't really see much changes to the armor itself because if this patch. Heavy already work well in the last patch. QUOTE(Bunker Buster @ May 7 2012, 00:36) No, it's PA vs. Stun, because Bleed is mediocre at high levels now. Needs better scaling/debuff effects.
PA vs Stun is kind like 'Gun VS Knife' IMO, which is not what I'm talking about since both of them do work. Some time ago, I also asked for bleed to do some kind of debuff. But then Tenb decided to buff the bleed dmg instead, so whatever... This post has been edited by buktore: May 6 2012, 20:31

I thought you don't like change. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) This patch effectively made me shittier in some way, yet I like it anyway. It does still felt like an experimental though; kinda like the mace buff patch, using player as a kind of beta tester. (which I don't really mind (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/heh.gif) )

(which I don't really mind (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/heh.gif) ) Nah, as a mage I would like to have higher damage output, so my spells would be able to kill more monsters with the 1st/2nd hit. It basically substitutes any mage's defense. And this patch give me exactly what I want, so it's a pretty good surprise. Nobody can resist good changes. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Can't say on those two-hand melees who lose shatter strike, bleeding and get more damage at the same time, though I agree it's a bit experimental and may be changed later. Right now it seems lower-level melees will have to rely on the SP stance again. The only problem is that I miss the fun when people complaining about regen being nerfed; people should know regen is always a self-DoT, so this would obviously heppen every time Tenb changes anything related to DoT. Need to find how regen/poison is calculated though. This post has been edited by varst: May 6 2012, 20:33

I think part of the reason the monsters can hit so much harder now is because of the stat boosts. The damage type mitigations haven't been scaled to compensate.

Of course not. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) My belief (I'm serious) is that it based on your biased and self-serving agenda, whatever that is... (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/heh.gif) Anyway... If the low ratio = suck and need to be buff and likewise for the opposite, which certainly is a logical thing one might draw from a statistics that you have at hand, then I guess there must be a lot of Niten user... It make absolutely no sense otherwise. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) BTW, The cumulative effect of the various past failed attempt at buffing Heavy, which is still in place now, is kinda starting to show itself right now. Just saying... This post has been edited by buktore: May 6 2012, 21:23

I thought it was still by generating a full set of next-to-impossible to obtain heavy sets of armor? Balancing monster damage around the 99.9999 percentile of mitigation stats sounds like a good idea. This post has been edited by hitokiri84: May 6 2012, 21:14

QUOTE(buktore @ May 6 2012, 15:40) I'm glad for you. Really, I do. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I hope this would pulls some of the recently influx of melee back to whence they came. Trolling my own kind is not exactly enjoyable, I found... (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/sleep.gif) Am I still one of your kind? Some of us make suggestions that aren't self serving. At least I try to anyway though I'm sure I have a few out there which are. QUOTE(ExTe @ May 6 2012, 10:47) Well. I guess Skillchip will be getting busy collect new raw data again =)

hey skillchip what do you think of my proposed 1/(1+x+y+zn) mitigation system over the (1-x)(1-y)(1-zn) mitigation system nobody knows how to read that piece of text apparently (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

I support your new calculation, but it is another thing whether Tenb want to use it or not. I am still waiting for Tenb to make Domino Strike "roll over" to the next monsters alive, instead of wasting the proc to the dead ones.

I really can't see how that scaling model would be "better" in any way. The big advantage with multiplicative scaling is that when something states that it reduces damage with 10%, it will actually always reduce damage by 10% regardless of what else you happened to be using before adding it.
And regardless of any other virtues it may have, there would be a huge amount of work involved, so the odds of it happening are zero. And I'm not talking "maybe, possibly, but close to zero"; actually zero.
