I think everyone now understand how serious it is to exploit system malfunction.

However, wiping out credits AND equipments works like an instant ban; there's almost no chance for those people to recover without borrowing some equipments. (remember they're going to level up every 10 days even if they don't want to)

How about wiping out 1-2 highest hath perks instead of equipments? The credits lost would surely be devastating enough to alert anyone here.

What about those who don't and probably won't ever have any hath, even less any perks? They wouldn't be scared at all by that.

That being said, though I understand the need to make an example out of them, I too believe a month-long ban and an equip wipeout is way too harsh a punishment.

Are we talking about all equipment or just the stuff obtained during those five hours of passion?
I know equipment is not timestamped, but it shouldn't be too hard to track down the "bad" stuff using the IDs from the equipment thread.

Since these fellows like random encounters so much, how about no random encounters for them for a month (after they're back)?
Equipment purge seems a bit too severe.

Too bad I wasn't there when it happened so I'm not entirely sure how it worked. But if it's true that you had to one-shot the rounds.. the rewards must've been miniscule (since lower difficulty setting). No in fact it doesn't compare to IWBTH arenas. Which they would've done if it wasn't for the glitch in the first place.

What did the people do that have the (Cheater) tag?

Taking their Credits could be a few 100k or +10 million credits, taking Hath could be 50 to 1000's

Can Tenb set limits to someone's stamina? Maybe giving them a max of 30 for a month or something?

I think the (Cheater)s got tagged by some sort of bot detection script from before the mazes got put in, IIRC. It also deducted credits from their accounts, so some of them were actually put into debt.

Damn. The whole past couple of pages are pretty much all about this. I still say while it does seem severe, I'm for the punishment. I really hate when people cheat >_>.

Like in left 4 dead, they gots cheats to make them run fast while crouching or as zombies spawn instantly. (I can deal with the first one, still beat them anyway, the latter one is just impossible).

No, it's not. A slap on the wrist would only encourage them and others to exploit any similar problems that might crop up in the future. Intentionally and extensively taking advantage of an obvious malfunction is something I will never accept.

And for the record, there is no mechanism to reverse EXP, and I really have better things to do than doing it manually.

Some or all of a level/training/credit/equipment/perk reset would send the message you hope to convey. Of course, you need a way to permanently and publicly display such a punishment, or history will repeat itself as people forget over time, or through the ignorance of new players or lurkers. You know, something like a virtual Vlad the Impaler. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

But I'm guessing you've just stuck with the original punishment since you haven't changed your stance. Ignore people saying this is too severe. It's a good decision since equipment is the only thing that can be taken away that's neither a slap on the wrist nor so extreme that they can never recover.

Ultimately it's all up to Tenboro to decide how to punish the offenders.
Personally I'm against the equipment wipe as it will limit the amount of good equipment available to everybody.
The month long suspension might be a good idea.
My idea for a permanent punishment, that affect the offenders irrespectively of level, is a negative aura. That shouldn't be to hard to accomplice as he regularly doles out positive ones and it would be a permanent mark (like the (Cheater) prefix).
