Are the mobs hitting harder than usual during the hourlies (which might account for the higher EXP gained)? Damn, they can hit really hard.

still a random, anything can happen. once I go 40 rounds on an arena without a single gem drop.

It must have been the day it was raining soul gems every other round for me, with the random troll number generator stuck on 4 or something.

I bet you someone had all health gems raining for them that day.

I had spirits 3/4 of the time today. Burnt up quite a few godly mana pots doing the arenas.
Shouldn't the health/mana gems outdrop the spirits?

Why would you even bother with playing so slowly? You probably could have spammed your way to x15 on Normal 2-3 times in the same amount of time and also gotten more crystals.
