Speak about IW. I do one right at this moment.
Even with my new perk and a Infusion of Frost I cant oneshot everything with Tier 3 Spells on normal (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

Normal? You need to man up and stay off the level 100's playground. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Wow, for once Saplings proved to be useful and gave me an Shade Helmet of the Arcanist. leaving me with 0 Burden. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Now I just need to level up my Shadowdancer stuff, but I have nothing else decent to equip while going through them... (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

I can't remember if I got this from a sapling or noodle, but it is probably my best shade piece.

I still haven't managed to get an arcanist chest piece from the shrine to finish my set.

Frankly, I don't think there'll ever be a "good" time to sell it again with the trend being set by recent patches. hito recently sold a similar robe and didn't get much out of it.

the only thing similar i recall between hito's robe and this one is the EDB. unless my memory serves me wrong, the int/wis/evade were far inferior

and @grunty don't take it personally (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

e: as for a "good time", one can hope. but i do recall T proving many people wrong. especially with this patch =)

With the way Tenboro has hinted at the direction he wants to take this thing, single-element nuke mages are basically being phased out. The period when they dominated was because of a time when the game mechanics were transitioning from a major overhaul to magic to something more complicated and varied. I imagine people will still be able to get away with specializing in one element or two element to a certain extent, but as the Monster Lab and other key features progress, flexibility will become a major consideration. And then there's the fact that Tenboro is always fiddling with equipment and today's Awesome Sauce becomes tomorrow's Meh, like with the last Phase EDB buff.

160k eh. It's less than the gazillion I was hoping for to be sure. But it's more than I feared and roughly about the same I expected.

I was ready to go at least 250k, since that's what I bought the last two Surtr robes I've got for.

You would most likely have gotten a lot more had you done the straight deal with me. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

@grunty i'm surprised you tried selling it right away

@derp Hmmm I think it'll be pretty tough to remove single element nuke mages unless he does an overhaul to the mage survivability. It's not like mages were made to last many many turns against large groups - whether it be mana wise, or health wise. As for the obsolete gear issue, mainly depends how paranoid you are? (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

e: @sushi what's with the "most likely"? if he really was going to get more, then shouldn't you have just offered him that amount to begin with? (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

I think the whole AOEs having actual areas instead of hit everything will make a big difference regarding this.

It never got to the offering stage. I said I wanted to buy it, he said he wanted to make an auction, and I said pass.

I guess? I was given the impression that each element would have a different AoE pattern

Fair enough I guess. Although I woulda just thrown him an offer off the bat.

With that + auto miss + monster resistance + all the spell damage nerfs we will be lucky to one shot on normal the targeted monster with a tier 3-4 spell.

I think we'd have Tier 5/6 by then (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

QUOTE(Tenboro @ Mar 2 2012, 13:04) *

You'd almost think some sentient entity fiddled with the rules in order to discourage normal play at the higher levels.

Some sentient entity should fiddle with the rules to encourage high difficulty play over normal play on Crysfest. As in possible to earn crystals at a higher rate on higher difficulties than lower difficulties. Normal is still by far the fastest earning rate difficulty, and therefore the best.

It might have been an "Exquisite" robe, but I don't think it was even as good as the Fine robe you got from me for 110k.

Or everyone will just abandon mage since various melee setups are 5x easier than the strongest mage sets on high difficulties.
