I got four since the new patch.
Judging from the posts in the equipment thread, either this is Shield Armor Week or Tenboro changed the drop chances.
The rarity thing may be adjusted, so there's greater chance to get rare equipments at higher difficulty.

Loot Generator improvements
The part of the loot generator that determines equipment type and class has been refined. Instead of doing a plain roll on fixed odds, there are now two separate rolls.
- The first roll determines type (one-handed, two-handed, staff, shield, etc..), while the second roll determines the newly introduced "tier" of equipment. While the odds for equipment type are still fixed (unless you use a trophy to set it), equipment tier is now affected by the difficulty setting. For example, on IWBTH the odds for getting tier 2 and tier 3 equipment is 5x higher than on normal.
Balancing Changes
- Difficulty now has a larger effect both on loot quality and credit drops.
If difficulty affects loot quality only, it didn't need to be stated twice.
Also, it mentions 'equipment class', an unusual term.
So, instead of a roll that determines type and class at the same time, now it is two separate rolls, so the second roll (on class) can be affected by difficulty setting.
Probably
Tier 1 = cotton, leather, plate
Tier 2 = gossamer, kevlar, shield
Tier 3 = phase, shade, power
As for weapons (speculation!), probably waki and katana are tier 3. Scythe maybe tier 2-3. Estoc and Mace maybe tier 1-2. longsword = tier 1.
axe should be tier 2, dagger and shortsword should be tier 1, club and rapier maybe tier 1-2.
