...what the hell? SS has barely had any translations for the longest time (you'd be lucky to get a chapter translated once every other month or two), and now all of the sudden they're coming out like doujins at comiket. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

I'm a bit surprised too... I thought the handwritten nature and length of the doujin as well as the insistence that the author comments also be translated would reduce the number of translators willing to work on it, but I guess not. Or maybe the bounty is just too high to resist (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) .

It has to be the bounty size in order for someone to skip over other bounties to do SS

While the bounty size was a big incentive, I also don't have any interest in any of the other top ten bounties in terms of subject matter, while I had the SS series on my hard drive for a long time now. And the text, though handwritten, is easier to understand than Dark Blue Moon's (https://e-hentai.org/g/275675/8c687ecf72/).

I've also translated a much larger manga on another website (it was 165 pages), but I don't think it'll ever see the light of editing and posting.

Uh, hi everyone! First post on the forum.

I've almost finished a translation for SS8, but page 54 is beating the crap out of me. I'm going to see if I can get it done and proofread before the weekend.

I know this isn't really the right thread to ask, but did anyone find / have any problems with SS7's translation? I discovered an error in the script I had made on page 31, but I think that was it.

FYI I've had a quick read through the first half and found the following points. Overall, the translation is pretty good.

pg5.
I've translated the first sentence as
"sensing the ever growing presence of mistress 9 within her, Hotaru ran away from the unearthly Tomoe residence."

妖気　is unearthly.
yoma which is used in the ss7 translation is 妖魔, 　

Also,
本格的に動きだしたウイッチーズ５の手により２人は捕えられ弄ばれる
The witches 5 starting working in earnest to capture the two of them to play with.

Should be something like:
Moving decisively the witches 5 capture and humiliate (or play with) the two of them.

(the point being the statement is one of something having happened, not something that is going to happen)

pg 12.
Now that the professor has been possessed, he is under viluy and cyprine's control.

This should be:
I'm telling you, the professor has been possessed by an unknown entity, who also commands viluy and cyprine.
(The scenes with the evil professor suggest he is the one in charge)

pg27.
We can't do anything... I feel like there's nothing we can do...

Should be:
It doesn't feel right, sitting around here doing nothing...

pg 29

This should be

(this is probably in reference to that possessed professor)

I was under the assumption, based on the different prices for SS7 and SS8, that the bounty was going to go down with every installment. That's fine with me.

And the 165 pager was for someone else, I have no real interest either way.

Inflation is not that much of the issue... some bounties are just in a different league. And for the SS series it is mostly presumed that the bounties will be so gigantic. But for others, where Dlag is not a consponsor, the old prices remain - I could perhaps sponsor one, maybe two bounties at SS level by myself if I had to. Fortunately, I don't, and thanks to the fact that for most dojins old prices remain, I can say that the 30th completed bounty is quite close (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Well, it's more that if the bounty is not taken, people will be chipping in it, so it will be larger. And for SS and similar bounties, some people don't pay too much attention to how much they chip in, throwing my regular price (~1k credits + 1 hath for a page) out of the roof (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Well, you won't have to wait much longer. I sent it to Red so it shouldn't be much longer now.

I'm one-third of the way through SS9, though I plan to do other things during this weekend so don't expect it too soon.

Also, I just realized something extremely important: How will we abbreviate the title when we start on the next series? Will it be SSSS1-12?

Translation of SS9 complete. I'm going to proofread it twice, to catch any mistakes, improve the naturalness of the dialogue and make sure it flows smoothy from page to page. Should be done before Friday.

Pages 58-60 and 75 were the most problematic, so they'll be getting lots of scrutiny and extra attention.
