QUOTE(cdragron @ May 30 2011, 16:08) Okay, finals are over. I'll need a few days to recover, then get started on SS Special.
Please, take all the time you need(i'm still in the midst of projects) (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Greetings, I've started translating the "[Thirty Saver Street 2D Shooting (Maki Hideto, Sawara Kazumitsu)] Silent Saturn S Special - Satān kōrin 10-shūnen kinen hon (Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon)" Status: round1/2 at page 56/84. There are some minor issues though. As I'm not familiar with sailormoon, I might misstranslate certain things. Like unique speech patterns (Suiseiseki's desu in RM). Are there such things is SM? (So far I haven't noticed any) Also as this is my 1st translationwork, I'd like to know how much artistic freedoms one has. There are things that are difficult to translate unless some degree of freedom is allowed. So should I make it more readable (while losing some cultural aspects) or more strict (while being somewhat ackward) The 1st round of translation should be done by tomorrow. Personally, I keep the name suffixes (-chan, -san, etc.) instead of trying to find English equivalents, but everything else is fair game. Good luck!

I am used to seeing suffixes, it's the rare "little instead of chan" sub that confuses me (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) You can always add translation notes, or even have to different versions of a page in the release, this is very much part of the artistic freedom scanlations allow. Great start, the full bounty will be released when all the pages are translated, but you are almost done (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Hmm.... I'm noticing [FIXME] next to alot of lines. I'm not much for rewording lines, so maybe someone can help me out with this one. Or another translator comes along and helps with this before I get to editing.

Reading over the script makes me kind of concerned - the English sounds really broken and off. Even on some of those FIXME lines, the context isn't always clear.
For some minor background stuff on Hotaru - in the Silent Saturn series Hotaru Tomoe is a normal person and Chibiusa's bondage pet; but her body has two souls. One is hers, the other is Saturn (Sailor Saturn). They are the same being, but with two souls. It sounds to me like this is Saturn's spirit using Hotaru's body...at least that is what is sounded like from reading some of the script. I can see how that would be confusing to someone who doesn't know the anime (or read the translated Silent Saturn series).
It might be worth it to have someone either go over the Japanese again, or have someone clean up the English a little more.

Thanks for the feedback.
Those fixme's are just tags for myself. They are the lines that I'm not that pleased with.
... perhaps I should read the previous doujins to get some perspective on continuality ... derp.
So one being with 2 souls (containing different memories and personalities, i assume), That clears some things with the 1st story.

I'd like to know too. I didn't bother editing this yet until I was certain everything was hunky dory with the script.

It's progressing ok. I had a minor setback when vista crashed and I lost a days work.
There's still 2 author blurbs that aren't translated.
About the stories, Two out of four (the single story ones) are ok. The 'mainplot' ones still need a bit love. I did read ep12 of silent saturn, but it was only a little help.
Now if my editor (Super Shanko, I presume) is familiar with the story from ep1 onward and has tolerance for this then I could work with him on pm basis. I can underestand the general plot and such, but when it comes to the details, I may miss some series specific things (those spirits/souls for one).

I'll try to be as useful as I can, but I suggest you also ask Red since he'd probably the most informative with SS.

By the way, some time has passed, Tenboro refunded a few Hath Perks, and I'm rich again (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
