genl, please say you can decript Honto's bok1 files. They use Cyberguard too. I'm trying to make the transcript of a japanese novel but I'm taking forever with my limited japanese knowledge and then I got across Honto and their ebooks and thought, fuck yeah! instant transcript!

In the novel I can select text but not copy to clipboard. There's a "Search XXX with google" option BUT doing that only shows random characters in the search field, "OK", I thought, "I'll convert them to unicode and then make a conversion to japanese characters" but such tool doesn't seem to exists. I find tons of Japanese to Unicode converters but not the other way around (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/cry.gif)

Never saw that site and its format. You can pm me the file and login:password so I could look at it. If it's really CypherGuard then it should not be difficult for me.

Yeah, they use ciberguard. You install Honto's software where your library shows up. When you double clic on a book the software closes, Cyberguard starts up and loads T-Time (the ebook viewer).

There are tons of tools for this but most of them are shareware so you have to try few and choose one. You can also find cracked versions of such tools. I can say GuaPDF does the job just fine.

Without login:pass - not possible. If you are hoping someone would bruteforce it - not gonna happen in any near future.

From what I can tell, no one in their right mind would spend time on developing such a tool. It would only be useful if you could get the protected files without buying them. And if you buy them, you get the access to correct decryption keys -> nothing to bruteforce.

No, as far as I can tell. That's the exact reason why they put a full download on public - you have to buy a key to play it.

+ e-books by honto.jp (.bok1 extension). However I don't recommend using those - the virgin format is T-Time (.book) which only renders correctly under japanese Windows. (still waiting for confirmation from the first user who requested that)
+ Windows Media DRM (only valid for certain digital shops).
