Misc is for stuff that cannot be classified as something else (as the name implies, you know).

Just for clarification: Misc is for galleries that cannot be categorized into "any of the other gallery categories present". EVERYTHING in misc can technically be classified to "something else" but none of those classifications meet the other categories, hence why they are misc. This may be obvious but more is the point that with enough differentiation a miscellaneous category does not need to exist, but this separation is largely superfluous.

It's actually not as major as you'd think, it is likely more of just making sure that everything understands there are more categories (which is read from the database), and it's not actually changing how anything works.

As for 900 not being enough... at some point we had less than 900 cosplay sets, or gamecg sets, or even dojins and manga sets. Will you change your mind in a year or two when we have as many artbooks as there are cosplay sets now (roughly, 1,800)?

This point it moot. Back when we only had 900 of any of those (excluding cosplay) sets, there were FAR less galleries in the system, so proportionally 900 was still relatively significant. I personally wouldn't mind seeing cosplay being absorbed into Asian Porn except for the fact nearly half of them are non-nude (which means they would not fit in Asian porn because of that).

It's not a bad idea, but it's not really needed. If anyone wanted 3d galleries they would just type 3d to find the tag. Aside from that, it's just an image set.

Being recognized as a bad idea makes it unnecessary (rather, makes it a non-option). However, being an unnecessary idea (at the moment at the very least) does not make it a bad one.

Not necessary just means what it means, not necessary. It's not a negative, it's just something that won't give that much help, or the help it would give would not make that big of an impact. It doesn't hurt or make the galleries suck to have a 3D category, but it's just such a small category that it wouldn't help that much. You could say there should be a guro category, official art category, or a loli category (yeah yeah I know I'm just making an example), and any of those could make things easier to find, but it wouldn't be all that great because the tagging system takes care of all that. Despite that, it's not a bad thing to suggest new ideas - shows there are members who give a damn about the site and want to suggest things that keep it better than all the others.

That is consequence of enacting an idea regardless of whether it is "good" or "bad" or "necessary". Useful or not it still increases the workload, albeit usually temporarily. I guess the best way to put it is that the suggestions made by Red are currently unnecessary. Does that make them a bad idea? No, with the assumption that eventually new categories may need to be made, and you can't particularly tell what will be the categorization for new categories until it becomes excessive/necessary to do so.

At this point, we're arguing semantics and for the sake of arguing, we should probably stop and either let the topic die, or let Tenboro shoot the idea down in favor of just leaving things the way they are, and then let the topic die.
