I used to watch them a decent amount, but over the years, my interest fizzled out. I still check on my favourite ones every few months, and they've kept the qualities that drew me in. How about you?

Also, did you watch streamers before getting into vtubers?
I didn't, and probably never will.

If they are naked and masturbate, maybe. Otherwise no, I can't stand the fake voice, looks and behavior.

Same with a lot of other people, I started watching vtubers during Covid. I watched Hololive a lot. Followed almost everything, watched almost all clips. Watching them is fun, and it made me happy. They were my main source of happiness.

Then something happened that made me busy, so I could only watch clips. Still, I tried to watch as many as I could.

Life's sucks so more things happened. Now, I don't watch any.

When presenting yourself to others, don't we all put up a certain degree of fakeness? The ones I watch seem to blend their fake and authentic behaviour well enough that I don't cringe.

Yeah, used to be one of the 'rich' simps decades ago to one of the most famous vtubers at that era (watching them too regularly).

But simping for that 'girlfriend' illusion and throwing money at those "girl" avatars will not get you anywhere meaningful. It's better to build real relationship with a real girl.

No, and I don't really know why I find them so off-putting. If I equate it to other forms of entertainment, then it's just acting with a digital costume instead of a physical one. That shouldn't bother me...

Maybe it's the context. Like, most of them are not really doing anything right? Playing games, commenting, luring simps, etc. Just trying to trap attention to make money. There's something either sad or cynical about adding in the VTuber avatar.

I say this as someone who has watched a few let's play streamers in my lifetime.

I've never spent money on them, and to be frank, I think doing it is pretty stupid, unless you can get a clip/opinion out of it.

I feel like the ones you guys watch and how you watch them are completely different from mine, I just watch them for the funnies, like watching a clown.

I never understood vtuber craze until I stumbled upon the one I really like.
She wasn't very popular in the west so I started learning japanese to watch her. To this day she is the only vtuber I pay attention to.

I go through phases where I watch clips and VODs from my favorites. I never watch live because I'd rather watch on my own schedule and I don't care at all about the chat. It also lets me pick only the games or activities I'm interested in. I'd rather watch a VOD of an interesting game from 4 years ago than a stream from today for a game I don't care about.

Recently I haven't been watching Youtube in general out of a concentrated effort to minimize the time I spend online, so no vtubers either and I hope to keep it that way.

I stopped watching "real" streamers around 2015. I had a phase where I watched a lot of Starcraft 2 and Arma 3 on Twitch in 2011-2015, but I never cared for the "general streamers". I hated the parasocial nature of the whole thing and it is a giant waste of time. Of course the same applies to vtubers, but I also hate internet drama and politics and all that sort of nonsense which vtubers mostly avoid. Unless you go into vtuber message boards which are full of manuactured drama, but I never interact with "the community" in any way and just watch my videos in peace. I also dislike it when some vtubers put the chat on the screen and "force" me to read it. I usually skip streams that do that.

The only fleshtuber whose VODs I still occasionally watch is Jerma. But his streams are super chill and he often plays niche games like old adventure games, which is the stuff I watch and skip the flavor of the month streams.

No. I don't watch Vtubers. I only watch streamers occasionally to begin with and also I couldn't care less about people who hide behind image or 3d model. If I'm watching for people and not the gameplay, I wanna watch someone physically attractive and entertaining though I have nothing against Vtubers.
