You ever find the perfect raw doujin — amazing art, exactly your fetish — and then realize you have no clue what the characters are actually saying?

For me, it’s like watching porn on mute. Sure, you get the action, but half the fun is gone.

I’ve tried copy-paste machine translation, phone OCR, even guessing from facial expressions… but it’s a mood killer when you’re “busy” and suddenly wrestling with Google Translate instead of the characters.

Sometimes I just give up and enjoy the pretty pictures. But deep down I know I’m missing the dirty jokes, the moans, the build-up… basically the good stuff.

So I’m curious — do you guys just fap to the art and ignore the text? Or do you have some sneaky tricks to actually understand raws in the moment?

I feel like there’s gotta be a better way than me squinting at kanji with one hand occupied.

Not if you know the language. Spend a year or 2 so you can enjoy your hentai manga uninterrupted.

I have this really devious technique that's super fast, way faster than any AI translation.
I actually memorize the definitions of all of the various Japanese words, so that when I see them, I know what they mean, and I can read them like I read English.
Don't tell anyone about this though, it's so effective I'm pretty sure it must be illegal.

Been studying Japanese for a bit, so weird when i can understand at a glance what they are saying. Also it has been more than once that i have had to stop to look up a definition because it was driving me nuts.. in the wrong way

learn the basic. after a while (could be a few months to a year or more depending on how much time you want to spend), transition to learn by practice (read stuff, watch stuff, listen to stuff), flashcard new words you encounter, look up grammar you don't know. a teacher is not necessary, especially if your main goal is weeb japanese and not textbook japanese
