A fresh have a question about my ASUS 6600XT graphics card.
When I play games, I notice that the GPU core temperature and the junction temperature have more than 20°C difference.
For example, the core might be around 65°C, but the junction temperature goes above 85°C.
Is this normal for the 6600XT?
Will this temperature difference affect the performance or the lifespan of the card? (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Junction temp is the hotspot as it was known on NVIDIA. I think AMD rates it as high as 110°C, while its not optimal that it's this hot, i doubt it will affect the lifespan of this card in a way that matters for the next decade. As for performance, just see if its downclocking or holding a stable boost clock.

It is pretty normal. You could try undervolting to improve temps.

People are mostly worried if tjunction is going over 95oC, as 110oC is the Tjunction limit.

A slight undervolt can usually drop the temps dramatically, and can some times even marginally boost performance.
