As title, i do a full backup of the h@h, for example, a monthly backup. Someday my hd fucks up and i can't retrieve the folder, if i restore the backup i have, do i have to reset the static ranges anyway? Or if i do a complete cache scan it just fix it by itself? Because if the former basically it's useless to have a backup at all.

I think in the case of having a backup you can just do a cache verification with little to no consequences. Static Ranges reset could hurt a lot tho.

I know this is why i wanted a sure answer because 1) copying the cache takes a shitton of time and a dedicated hd 2) if i had to reset i'll just reset and w\e at this point

Cache backups would have to be fairly fresh to be useful, at most a couple of days old. If the backup is a month old then it's probably not worth much.

If you're concerned about disk failures, it's better to use a RAID instead of relying on backups.
