I am new with H@H and I am in China. I cannot visit the EH site without my VPN up, but do I need to keep VPN all day for the H@H?
I have tried stopping the VPN for about 10 minutes and the go back again refreshing the H@H page and I see that the connection is still online, but as I am new, I don't see any usage of my client yet. So I am not sure if actual data flow requires my VPN.

No, H@H client software only connect to the domain rpc.hentaiathome.net, not blocked by China.

Besides firewall censorship (which from what I heard does not affect H@H) I dont think ISPs in China gaf if you torrent copyrighted material.

What you need to worry about is that the ISP may speed limit your home network due to excessive upload traffic
