Had a k95 from my first build (always had laptops until then). But something with the cable went wrong. It had 2 USB cables for all the power it needed. So when one broke, it just stopped working. Which sucked because it is honestly my favourite keyboard with all the extra buttons. Got it in 2015 and lasted until 2022.
Replaced it with the Corsair K100. Honestly it is 95% as good, it doesn't have all the extra keys for Macros and the like. But since I don't really pay MMOs anymore, it is fine for me. Plus it did give me my first taste of optical key switches. Not so bad, coming from the previous browns I had. It also has a few extra upgrades, like a usb slot and a bunch of easily switchable profiles. Only issie for me is the price. It was $320 back in 2022 while the K95 was $240 back in 2015.
3 nice mechanical keyboards have been replaced...they didn't stop working I just found something else I liked more (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)
I’ve had everything from mechanical keyboards (which I absolutely love) to some super basic membrane models. The mechanical ones always last the longest, but it’s hard to find the right switch if you’re picky.
I used a membrane keyboard I bought in 2009 for like $20 until I replaced it with a mechanical keyboard earlier this year. I only replaced it because of some restrictions associated with the membrane keyboard, though it still works at least. I am still getting used to the mechanical keyboard because the pressure sensitivity is much higher than what I was used to with the membrane keyboard so I will often typo something just by lightly moving my finger over a key accidentally. I imagine this could be rectified by getting some alternative switches but that's a project for another time.
