I've been wondering how the string after the EID is generated on equipment addresses?
I think this event is a good idea, but since the EID is incremental, not every poster gets a chance to win the big price with the EID average system, only the ones posting in the 3rd or 4th day. It doesn't seem ideal.
Maybe using the second string (hexadecimal) as reference for the big price could be better if similar event are held again in the future, depending on how this string is generated?
Hopefully it's not an issue to post a message not directly related to participation on this thread, since it is event-related. Otherwise I'll submit this post for deletion with my apologies.
well, the hogwarts event uses the random second string. This shouldn't be too similar to the other event. I wanted an event where timing of the post plays a role. Yes only 3rd, 4th, or maybe 5th day posts have a chance of winning the big prize. So you need to wait. But if you wait, you miss out on a guaranteed prize from the day before. And if everyone waits, the average will shift to the 6th or 7th day. This event is way more strategical. And it works - the randomness of the forum posters makes sure that it can't be gamed. Good luck guessing even the day of the average EID post, let alone the hour.
