Its not about what they themselves translated, its about a friendly environment and a good, almost completely ad-free website that is good and convenient do get doujins from. God, I just can't stand jackasses like you who post other people's shit for no reason. Furthermore, where are these "sources," and this "translator" that really supports you? Are we supposed to take your word for it that doujin-moe treats its translators badly? How badly can you treat someone's work, either you post it online or you don't, either you pay the commission or you don't, which they do. Who the fuck do you think you are, Robin Hood? Just to clarify I'm not the translator who blades mentions but I will elaborate the experience that has happened to me. When they post translated works, they do remove the credit pages or edit out the credits listed in the works. Unless you ask them not to or work for them then they usually leave it. Of course, I asked them not to do it and not to post my works in the pay section which Raikoh did comply with my request.

After all, I do not get any money from the works I translate and do it just for practice and stuff. The closes thing to which I ask for money is the donation which covers the server cost and I do not run it since I am being hosted by Ryuu which I believe is more than acceptable to have it there.

Hmm, since what I'm about to say runs counter the prevailing direction of the thread I'll probably be downvoted to hell, but I'll go and say it anyway.

I'm afraid I can't agree much with what you're doing. Everybody seems to think the people at Doujin-Moe act the way they do out of greed, but knowing the realities of hosting a service (namely that bandwidth doesn't come cheap, and that pretty much nobody wants to advertise on a porn site) makes me think that it's the more reasonable course of action if someone wants to host a self-sustaining site.
They've done good to release much of what they've commissioned as public when they could have kept it all to themselves if they wanted; come to think of it, your actions could persuade them to do just so in retaliation, creating a net loss of 150-200 releases a year.

While I'd be happier if they refrained from editing other translators' credit pages, and if there was some explicit promise to make their exclusive releases public after a set time (long enough to give people some actual incentive to sign on), on the whole I think they've been a net benefit for the h-community and don't deserve to be screwed this way. In fact, come September I'll probably sign on for a couple of months to show them support...

This. Obviously they would like to keep everything exclusive, but the people who rely on aggregation sites such as DM probably wouldn't know what to do with a megaupload link. People who grab things from this thread would never pay for it in the first place, and the existing members aren't aware of this thread anyway.

It's not as black and white as many makes it seem. They do scan and commission themselves, using membership fees I'd assume. Some of those ends up in the free- and some in the member section. I don't see a problem with that. At the same time, many of their releases comes from free sources, and again, some are made free while others are member exclusive. It'd be nice if they asked before trying to make money* on others work, but I can't see a reason why anyone would agree with that, so I understand why they don't.
(*All the profits may go to bandwidth and commissions, but I don't see how that makes my point any less valid.)

I can only speak for myself, but they do cooperate if you ask them not to put your translations in the member section. Although the initial offer was to make chapter 1 free and the rest member only, which was kind of weird. I should point out that they've kept their word, as far as I know.

As a scanlation site, I appreciate their work. As an aggregation site (this applies to all such sites really. "Wow, I can use feeds. Imma internet wizard!"), I don't see the point.

First of all, tbh I don't have any respect for the doujinmoe site and most of their actions. Getting free works by other translators, taking out the credits so whomever reads it (be it paying members or not) does not realize that they can get them for free at the translators site (though you'd have to be an ubber noob to not know where they come from anyway) and profiting from them (it really doesn't matter if it is for server costs or for actual profit) is just wrong anyway you see it.

The fact that they remove specific works by request of the translators does not make things better than they are. For the translators to have constant surveillance on the site to ask for every work added to be removed from the members section is not an easy task that everyone would do.

On the other hand they do comission lots of works too (though probably with the money earned from their scam) and this works eventually get released for free (if you don't mind waiting years for the actual free release).

So at the end of the road I don't give a fuck about doujinmoe and their scam as long as the works that were intended to be free for everyone get released for free, and if I can get the works for free 2 years sooner then all the better.
