I have been playing the game for more than a dozen hours so here's a brief review:
-The graphic is excellent and it's not terribly demanding when it comes to the specs of your PC(i had steady 60fps with all the settings on ultra and 4k resolution).

-The story and lore are compelling and the dialogue is written like something out of high class theatrical performance.

-The music sounded like the standard asian traditional music which i found a bit boring but the sound department is as solid as the rest of the game.

-The gameplay is a blast and has plenty of depth but the difficulty is not particularly daunting.

I admit I have spent 0 seconds reading what gaming journalists are saying, but I don't think people are clowning on this game for "not having diversity". It's for the "if you want early access to the game, you cannot mention the Chinese communist party, COVID-19 quarantines, use offensive language or express your opinion on the news while streaming" email. Which is fucking nuts. Maybe you cretins used to being boot-stomped all your life don't understand this, but in the West this is not normal.

As for the game itself, looks like typical Chinese slop where 99% of the budget went to the graphics.

The game looks really cool, glad to see a high quality game about Journey to the West. I wanna play it but I'm broke as shit, don't have enough disk space on my laptop and my laptop will probably explode trying to run it on minimum graphics settings.

Because they literally sent this letter of demands to any streamer who received a copy of the game, and then the chink bots online tried to twist the issue into "Western journalists are melting over lack of diversity":

The Chinese use TikTok and woke politics to destroy their competition by pushing DEI, feminism and other modern audience slop so they can destroy our industries and take over with their "Anti-woke" mid tier offerings. People, sick of the shit offered, have taken to feeding on midshit like, Nier: Automata 2: Electric Boogaloo or Stellar Blade as it were, looking for some relief. Monke Souls is a pretty game, with okay souls mechanics that probably would have gone under the radar if it wasn't for the Streisand Effect. Meanwhile, Tencent, is a major investor of Ubislop and likely killing it with DEI so they can buy majority stake and privately own it now they they're hemorrhaging money with their flop after flop..

It's just a mid game that got dick ridden hard by the chinese & people tired of cringe woke garbage.
Like it's easy to call it a masterpiece when every game around it was piece of shit.

I think this game is good.

I'm looking forward to the supposed sequel that's going to feature Jiang Ziya instead. Hopefully they'll have learned from their mistakes and make something even better
