as childish as it may sound coming from someone 49 years old, I color. Grab the coloring pencils and a coloring book or print out some b/w line art, throw on some music (no-vocal stuff seems to work best for me, synthwave and it's various cousins are good) and just turn off my brain and color like I'm 8 again.
Finding something that helps take you out of reality seems to be the key. You want to utilize *just* enough of your brain to keep you from stressing, but not so much of your brain that you tire it out in a different way.
It may take a while to find what works best for a person, but I think that most people can find a way to de-stress if they just keep at the search.
Color! This is beautiful. (IMG:[

Music is somehow too strong for me.
And I agree. The core is to
draw our attention away from reality, temporarily.
Ways can be many. But
all roads lead to Rome.
We just need to find the best ones for ourselves. It may take time.

As for me, I jog.
If really stressful, I sprint angrily.
If even worse, I'll have to sleep it over.
