What exactly are the private gallery restrictions though, I didn't find a corresponding description on the wiki?

Does the private gallery count count only the number of new releases, or is the number of times an individual private gallery is updated counted as well?

It doesn't distinguish between "updates" and new galleries due to obvious ways to exploit that.
