TBH I'm not a big anime/manga fan but the people I know who are into this stuff never even heard of it, or were put off for it being old and too text heavy. I'm sure at least some people here watched the movie, but the manga covers much more and is honestly one of the best stories I ever read; it touches up on a lot of subjects like politics, war, religion and philosophy. The overall tone is really dark too, and you can tell Miyazaki was loosing faith in humanity as he was writing it lol (he finished the manga in 12 years, from 1982 to 1994).

at the end of the manga,
he still believes hope left for human spirits
his only loosing faith in an artificial evolution
at least i think so

One of the best manga's I've even read. Could easily rival LOTR if it was made in a trilogy movie series

THIS.
If only someone would pour huge budget for it.

its okay i guess. learning how miyazaki is a bit of a manchild definitely sours it a bit for me as an adult though... i feel like nausicaa tries way too hard to be something that miyazaki is just fundamentally incapable of producing- its no legends of galactic heros, or lord of the rings, but rather like spirited away trying to be them.

I believe I have read the manga, but if I did, then it left such a non-impression on me that I can't recall any particular manga-only moments that stood out.

What do you mean, him being manchild? The word got thrown around so much as petty insult it barely means anything nowadays.

Not all of it, but the artbook is awesome too.

I did read it, it deviates from the movie a lot and slowly gets heavier and more cynical but i don't think it ends in a downer note despite that.
The art was beautiful, but considering how much stress it gave Miyazaki making it i can understand why he didn't do manga for his other works.

I'm not sure, but the subject was rare some years ago.
A girl I knew sent me her nudes for one (digital) copy of a Nausicaa doujin. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Its very good and lengthy. Internet Archive has the best English translation of it of note and all of the volumes. Its vastly different than the film, but the artwork and sociopolitical aspects of it are very good. I think its one of his best, it seems truer to him than anything else imo.

If only Anno got to make the Kushana spinoff...
