I'm a pretty new Genshin Impact player, but, so far, I'd say the game has been fun. I def have some problems with stuff, like how much u have to grind for primos, the gacha system, and stuff like low enemy variety. I'd say the best stuff has been the landscapes, environmental variety, art direction, story, and combat. Anyways, what is everyone else's opinion? :>

The game could be fun. But the grind is crazy. And the gacha system, obviously. Wouldn't recommend playing it.

For me the grind is the point. I like spending a few minutes daily and having it add up to something.

The best thing to come of the game is the doujinshi (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/cool.gif)

I'm pretty mixed on the game. On one hand, it looks great, has a great OST, has good controls (I'm keyboard player btw) and best of all has good and attractive characters. Its story is nothing to write home about in my opinion-- Inazuma and Sumeru quests sucked ass but Fontaine was a pleasant surprise. Gameplay is simple, although I would really like for there to be more mechanical complexity it's good enough for the average player.

On the other hand, it is a gacha so if you want specific characters you're going to have to grind to roll for them or spend money, and if you want to invest in them to make them strong the grind really REALLY sucks; farming artifacts in this game might just be the worst experience I've had grinding anything ever. And the game is like 100+ gb in size so unless you've got a fuck ton of storage lying around too bad mate.

I started playing it at the end of 2020 when a friend recommended it to me and I didn't play it often until like last year cause I wanted Hu Tao. Overall it's rather lackluster in terms of combat gameplay and mechanics (the meta makes this aspect bad), and its writing which ranges from genuinely heartful to utter ass that's a slog to get through. I give it a 5/10.

Right on brother. If there's one thing I'll praise this game for, it's the fanart and doujinshi. I've lost gallons to these characters.

I enjoy it but wish there was a little more depth to the gameplay, but understandably it's kept simple since its a mobile gacha that just so happens to be on PC and console too.

I've been playing since the 2nd week after launch so I have most of the characters I want but I find playing to be a pain these days since I'm at the point where I need to grind/farm so many different resources for many newer characters and it's just too boring and it burns me out. I still complete events and do the dailies for the most part but I don't play like I used to.

Also for the newer players if you lose the 50/50 the next 5 star is guaranteed to be on banner.

Don't pay for any gacha, they are ruining the industry.
While many people have praised their character designs, I'm probably one of the few who can't grasp MiHoYo's aesthetics.

I don't think it's very good, and it uses a lot of in-game design

I love it. It's like Breath of the Wild but we can play as beautiful and cute girls.

Seems like a poor people game. For kids too tech illiterate to pirate who'd rather grind a repetitive off brand Zelda clone for hundreds of hours to make any progress than pay $5 for a real video game during Steam sales.

Not to mention it has gacha. Just like dive bars have video poker. I love game design being balanced around gambling.

I tried for a while. Felt in love with Nahida. But then deleted it and deleted my account. The gactcha makes it too frustrating. And also too much lore. Seriously, too much. And too much talk and unskippable scenes. I don't really like open world games, so for me to actually stick with it was some kind of miracle.

Please excuse my bluntness, but I have the Overwatch opinion about Genshin Impact. It's a bad game with good porn.

All gacha are a vortex that unnecessarily wastes money time or both. The thing that makes them stand out from stuff with similar gameplay is their shared online nature, which ultimately dooms them to End of Service anyway.

I learned this the hard way, though thankfully it didnt cost me much.

GI's not bad imo but the grind is absolutely cheeks; up to 90 pulls for a 55/45 chance of a character you may or may NOT actually get. I have most of the cast from Sumeru+ (minus Cyno, Lyney, Sigewinne, and Kinich)

Started in Version 3.4, though I had the game installed on my computer since like 1.5 (with Eula still on the loader background) lol

It's not bad, but the combat system is kind of annoying.

Guys, it's a time-consuming game, alright! Most games are like this, but if it gives you a sense of accomplishment and joy, then I recommend that you check it out. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Overall, I'd say it's "Meh".

I decided to try it 'cuz of all the Breath of the Wild comparisons I kept seeing in game reviews of it and I gotta admit that Genshin looks gorgeous and uses a loosely similar art style. But, for me, that was where any similarity to BotW ended.

The gacha system is a huge turn-off, especially if you have bad luck with RNG like I do. By the end of my first month, I only had 7 characters because I either A.) kept getting the same ones, or B.) kept getting relics (mostly 3-stars). And among the few characters I had, Venti was the only 5-star one I lucked up on. The rest were 3-stars and one 4-star so, after awhile, I just stopped trying for new ones.

Also, Genshin isn't truly openworld. Many areas are gated off until you either complete certain objectives - like feeding statues - or you'll have to be a certain Adventurer Rank before the game will allow you to enter certain regions. By contrast, after leaving the Great Plateau, BotW allows you to go wherever you want whenever you want without such restrictions.

In the end, I wound up deleting Genshin after about a month (I played it on PS4) and haven't gone back to it since.
