I don't agree. At least 90% of them are of shoddy quality. And the other 10% don't have three poses and are of shoddy quality.

I felt that the contest was basically to award a "contract" to the winner for the commission of a mascot. There's a lot of considerations which require input from the team actually using these as a mini-logo. Inclusion of elements which represent the group along with poses/resolution/color may require that entirely new pictures be made. Rather than using the submissions directly they should be a judge of what style fits the purpose best along with the fact that if someone is willing to invest time into creating mascots and drawing them in a variety of poses it shows that they won't drop the "contract" half way through.

The whole thing was suspect from the beginning. Especially considering none of the people judging the contest ever came here to critique.

How worthless. If people don't know what to change or edit on their submissions to make them usable, then what's the point of critiquing it at all?

So many images in gallery yet so little idea produced.
of all the idea in the world, not all is used.
you can critique all you want, but a winner still need to be pick.
or else this competition will be nothing but junk.

time is all you need to make few pose.
but what everybody does is critique
if none of the submission ever win,
i would a pie in the face for the judge.

what's the point criticizing if nobody is gonna produce something good?
criticizing will not help give idea other then throwing pie to submitter.

It worked pretty well in regards to Hybrid's second pose.

So, great job talking out your ass, John Stossel.

Yeah it did and thanks again, radi.
I might add that p0xy gave me some advice for the 3rd pose and that helped as well.

The only one who was constantly throwing his harassing/useless shit around was our forum baby, Anto.

If they really care for a good mascot, they'd select a few participants from this contest (the ones they liked most) and make a second contest with clear guidelines on what they expect from their mascot. (With elements that represent the group and such)
That's pretty much the only way to get a decent mascot.

i like the idea of that instead of picking one out of the jumble. hmmm... but i am more interested on how the contest will end up now. even though pass the due date, the decision made. what will it be.

Contests are normally to see what can be done in limited time with whatever vague restrictions and criteria. It's not necessary for the judges themselves to critique while the contest is still on-going.

Why select multiple participants? Just pick the one whose style/abilities fit the most and guide him/her for the final version.

Hurf I just want the credits.

This.

If we already knew what we wanted we'd rather have said "do this, this and that, and the one with the cleanest lines and the smallest deviation from our ridiculously detailed spec will be the winner." The point wasn't just to draw something nice according to instructions, but to design something and then draw it. We're not designers, so our critique would have had a pretty good chance of turning a good idea into a bad one, just because the artist thought he'd have a better shot at winning if he adopted our ridiculous modifications to his idea.

Imagine the shitstorm if one of us told one of the participants that "make it more like so, and more like this, and then you do that and it'll be great" and we then decided on something else, because the one providing the critique decided that his ideas didn't work out after all or because the rest of us decided that his ideas sucked.
