I'm also looking at implementing some changes to the Misc limit suggested by Shadow Weaver, that involves having to buy additional slots past a certain point.

That sounds good. I'm active in Re-Up when time allows it and more than once I thought, how it would be to restrict uploads in misc category more. I don't know exactly how the restrictions are now, but e.g. a change to 5 galleries to start + 1 gallery each week -> 57-58 gallery per user & year in misc category...but that are only my 2 cents.

Alternative 1

I don't think that hundreds of people can agreed what is quality porn and what not.
Furthermore, i'm sure that with the alternative 2 everything will remain the same.

Well since quality is totally dependent on the viewers opinion, I'd have to go with Alternative 1.

I prefer 1 out of both posted, but still think tossing real stuff over to a subdomain similar to the fjords would be good.

forgot to paste the suggested changes as introduced by Red_Piotrus... let people decide what to keep (it becomes a regular gallery), everything else not voted high enough gets expunged... this should also go for the other categories to maintain high quality in general... maybe this can also be based on # of images clicked on in the gallery...

because some real porn is good while others are truly garbage

I'm fine with Alternative 1. I don't remember the last time I saw something in misc that wasn't porn, and the porn I have seen wasn't anything I couldn't live without or find elsewhere.
That said, my real porn preferences differ from the majority.

If porn sticks around it might help to make it go through a trial area before it hits the main galleries. A person could view unlisted porn as a seperate section and vote up the quality stuff. Anything that doesn't get voted into the main list gets deleted. There could be a limit on how many unlisted galleries an account could support, and possibly a short-term list of deleted galleries to prevent re-uploads.

2 seems the most reasonable, albeit with likely tweaks required down the road. For example, is a gallery with a similar fetish theme from a few different websites still "mixed"? Does all non-nude misc qualify as "low quality" even if there's cosplay/fetish outfits involved (and does one person's fetish for an outfit type counter anothers)? Some of these are just policies that have to be set firmly on one side or another and it'll all likely work itself out.

Either way, some modifications to the expunge rules would be useful, as the very strong wording about the garbage reason currently leads a lot of galleries to slip under the radar of the expungers. I'm all for high quality "my personal favorite" collections, but the dozens of those sets with a single page of images gets to be a little much.

EDIT: Also, I'm sick of looking through all that crap trying to weed out the underage pictures when I'm tagging, and I get even more sick of this shit when I find it. Real porn should go away.

1. It is a clear cut choice, and Real Porn is probably the easiest of the content here to find elsewhere. The 2nd option would lead to to vote wars that either will result in nothing being expunged, pissing off the no RP people, thus allowing the "unsustainable situation" to remain the status quo, or the purgers will gather enough power to overwhelm the purge complainers, thus leaving the anti-purgers unhappy with a failed "solution" to their problem. Either way, you'll end up a group of unhappy, bitching people.

If 1 is selected, perhaps adding a full vote non-Asian Porn expunge type would quickly eliminate it and deal with any new RP uploads. As for an auto temp ban for mass Non-AP expunges, if possible, exclude any non-AP gallery uploaded before Aug 1st (the lag to give the lurkers a chance to realize non-AP is no longer welcome), and then add any gallery uploaded on /after Aug 1 to the temp ban trigger.

Perhaps a return of the Real Porn (or Western Porn) category would be the solution. It would allow the RP haters to toggle it away, without losing the rest of the content of MISC. If it needs to be paired with another new category, I would suggest, as have others, Artbook. Currently, Artbooks are scattered over various categories, primarily NON-H.

I don't mind having RP in main galleries, but I'll admit I despise the fact that RP is the third most uploaded galleries. I'm leaning toward Alternative 1 since Alternative 2 is purely based on people's opinions. Actually, I wish to wait before deciding to see if the recent changes in misc upload limit will change it, the number of new RP galleries should be noticeably lower. So far, I haven't seen any excessive amount of misc galleries in main galleries.
