Do what you want by yourself. Don't let it get in to multiplayer.

One thing that bothers me though, is claiming to your friends that you legitimately cleared the SP mode if you did it while making changes that compromised the game. "you cheated not only the game but yourself" and all.

If it is in single player game nobody should care. You can skip some time consuming grind or get to the stage where you make different choices in second/third/n-th playthrough.

If you are having fun then that's what matters.

I don't think it's egregious, but I would be scared to do it on a game released on Steam out of an abundance of paranoia.

I won't recommend it, but if it is needed I don't care using since it is single player.

Depends on the games. If it's something that's obviously made to not respect a player's time and money, or worse, to encourage micro transactions in a FULLY paid for AAA games, such as Assassin's creed odyssey, well guess what I'm gonna do with this nifty cheat engine.

I don't care about that in single-player games. Everyone can cheat as much as they like. That's okay there too. But in multiplayer games, cheating just sucks!

I mean, its your game, you paid for it, as long as you are having fun, cheat, mod it, etc

Sometimes there are errors in a program that can only be corrected by cheating. It's just a matter of fixing a gap, or fixing a programmer's bad idea. Games are meant to be fun, not work. Stressing over a 1 instead of a 10 isn't fun. Fix the thing and get on with the rest of the game.

I think cheating in single player games is not a problem,It can provide you with a better gaming experience. But it should not appear in online games!

depends i played some games that had awesome story and animations but mechanics were trash so i dont feel wrong for cheating on them xd but there are other games that are more like a challenge that you feel good of completing it so it depends

I think that If it makes the game more fun then go for it.

At the end of the day single player games are all about personal enjoyment. Why even bother playing them if you're not having fun?

Is the same with modding a game. If a mod makes the game more enjoyable for you, then use it.

Personally, if you've played a single player game and dissected every aspect of it, it feels good to just let loose with some good old cheats. Obviously, as long it doesn't negatively affect any online aspects.

I think if its in a single player game then you are free to do whatever you want since it doesn't impact anyone else, Though from my experience i find cheating on the first/second playthrough of a video game kinda kills the fun in it

It's perfectly fine in single player games. It will usually make you bored of the game but it can also breath new life into a game if you were planning to stop playing it anyway.

The DM said I have to cheat even in single-player games or I'm not roleplaying my alignment.

"Is not roleplaying your alignment... cheating?"
DM: "... wait"

So basically I'll keep following Path of Whatever I was going to do anyway

It depends honestly.
If you cheat cuz you're a shitter who can't be bothered to learn the mechanics of a game, but don't want to miss out & just wanna ride the hype train, then you're no better than a game journo.

If you cheat cuz you're testing, speed running, using save states to avoid having to do the whole level again, or some part is unfun bullshit (like halo 2 sniper jackals) then yeah, cheat away.
