I knew I was at risk of being ahistorical, but it seems that whatever holy war caused the split on Real/Asian Porn has simply caused another group of users to be irked instead. I realise that right now there's a neat, even number of categories, but it does kind of seem like an additional category (rather than splitting a category without creating an obvious home for the content that was ejected but not completely excluded) would provide the suitable fix.

I can't see much more here other than what should be a "possible solution to jackasses who can't categorise their uploads properly" thread... and, well, short of some sort of IQ test or REALLY BIG TEXT on the upload page, an extra category should pretty much plug the leak. Anyone who can't figure that out afterwards and polluted the site unnecessarily could quite happily be banned from uploading, no?

Which reminds me that I'm still a fan of the "imageset posted as misc" "misc posted as imageset" expunge. The proper tagging acts more quickly, but it's nice to give a smack to repeat offenders.

The site doesn't tell people when galleries they uploaded get expunged (and why)? I think I'm beginning to see why this problem hasn't moderated itself, and why one user kept uploading new sets from godsgirls recently despite the previous three being either expunged or deleted.

Seems like showing the user the expunge log instead of whatever it was they wanted on their first page load after an expunge occurs, along with a checkbox that basically confirms that they have read and understood what they're looking at would greatly enhance the user education rate, and probably reduce the irritation for more seasoned users. Then, start hitting repeat offenders with penalties. Seems like to me if four of your galleries get expunged in under 48 hours /something/ should happen to you.

Wouldn't a new category be an implicit approval of what this thread is dedicated to removing? Misc is the home of everything that is not, in some way, relevant to the site's purpose.

I've wanted something like that for a long time. I would also want to be able to force uploaders to receive PMs. I hate it when people upload prohibited content like HentaiKey in large image sets. I report it. It is deleted. They then update the gallery, returning the originally deleted material along with even more prohibited material.

In that I suppose you're right. I hadn't considered that, but I suppose the train of thought I had followed given the fact that a generic "real porn" category had existed in the first place lead me to the eventuality that reintroducing it would ease the situation.

At any rate, if the people who are inappropriately categorizing are doing so because they aren't told when their stuff gets deleted or recategorized and/or never punished as it seems is the case, it would seem that starting there would make more sense.

After all, this is pretty much an education/information issue. "Image Set" is uh.. well, pretty generic as far as terminology goes if you're uninitiated. I mean, when I first saw it my first thought was actually "Um, everything is sets of images. Seems somewhat pointless. Not sure what it's for, but there seems to be real porn in there, so leave it selected on front page for now"

Just to throw in my 2 cents...

I don't mind the real porn. I look at it every now and then when one peaks my interest. However I don't come here for it. I have other sites for that if I really want to look at it. This is a hentai site, and the real porn seems to be taking up a larger amount of the galleries than it probably should considering that. Along that line of thought I have to wonder if they are worth keeping around? They take up space on the servers, which means storage space costs, and if they don't generate many hits then they don't generate ad revenue. I don't imagine that the real porn galleries generate the kind of repeat business the hentai ones do, though I could be wrong on that, so they may be a drain on the resources that keep the site going. Or I could just be completely wrong, it's just a thought.

I'm not sure you're tracking. Tag a gallery as "misc" and get it to 100 points, then it changes category. It can take a few hours to a few days for this to happen, depending on how attentive people are. It's such an obvious tag, though, that I wish it could count up more quickly.

Can you tell that I don't use the galleries much? Maybe more of us should help out with tagging. If all the real porn was in misc, people *might* stop complaining about it so much and this could all become moot.

There's the camwhores, amateur crap, ugly shemales and homely chicks, saggy-boobed fatties, underage girls, magazine ads of celebrities no one gives a rat's ass about, etc, most of which we're in a constant battle to get rid of.

I mean, there are just so many other places to go for that stuff. Or maybe this place should be called E-RealPorn.org.

So here's my plan.
Gather enough people here to fully expunge galleries based on this rule:
2.1 While this can be more subjective, a gallery that people consider to be lacking any redeeming qualities or relevance to the erotic theme of the website will be expunged.
It is my opinion that all real porn(read non-asian) lacks redeeming qualities and lack relevance to this website.
If you agree with this and are willing to expunge any and all real porn as garbage post here saying so and with your garbage expunge power(50% of your regular expunge)
If we get enough people that want this then I will make a vigilante thread and we'll start killing them.

I'm not looking to fix the mis-classed material, I'm not trying to have less misc porn in my searches, if you looked at my viewing history you'd see that I very, very, very rarely even look at the hentai here any more.

I want it gone, and I want it gone for 2 reasons:
1. It doesn't belong here, no other hentai based site I've ever seen has real porn except occasional asian stuff, and all of it is incredibly easy to find elsewhere.
2. I'm tired of arguments and complaints about it, if we have enough people to trash it all, we will, it will be gone, there will be no point in arguing anymore. If we don't, we give up, it stays, once again, no point in arguing.

For those curious, the amount of Misc galleries here is 15% of the total posted galleries, compared to:
28% dojin
17% manga
5.5% artist cg
4% game cg (my personal opinion, some of the best stuff)
4% western
6% non-h
8.5% image sets
0.7% cosplay
5% asian porn
These are approximations, rounded, I doubt it adds up to 100%
Point is, it's number 3 category-wise.

I understand cosplay galleries, but Asian Porn and Real Porn are both unnecessary, IMO. I'm with Boggyb on this one, lets nuke 'em both.
