I've been looking at the recent rise in AI Generated gallery posts (it's up to around 6% of all posts today) and noticed some interesting metadata regarding their ratings - it's a trimodal distribution, which is pretty rare in the wild.

I want to see if the number of people who rated / favorited might explain this distribution, but that info isn't included in the metadata. It's bad practice to scrape each page individually instead of going through the API, but is there another API method or way I can get the number of ratings and favorited for each gallery?

Graph is posts with [AI Generated] in the title with post time on x and ratings on y, showing the trimodal distribution I'm referring to.

I can sadly not help you with your main question, but I want to say that your observation is very interesting and you sharing it is very appreciated.

One thing I want to point out however is that, contrary to what the wiki would have the reader believe, the rating displayed on the galleries is in fact not just the average rating. There is some sort of mechanism in place that filters outlier ratings from influencing the displayed rating (or something similar). I suspect that this plays a major role in the trimodal distribution you are observing. You could try and compare your results for other "controversial" searches (e.g. containing yaoi / guro / scat) to see if there's a trimodal as well.

If I had to guess, most people tend to give high ratings as a default unless it's egregiously bad

Conversely a lot of people will see "Ai" and without even checking the gallery will give an instant low rating. Yaoi has similar rating issues, albeit for different reasons.
