How does this work in practice though? Lets say I wan't to find galleries tagged with impregnation and English tags uploaded close to this gallery https://e-hentai.org/g/1075362/2f2fc91461/ how do I do that? The 1075362 is the GID right? If I edit that to anything I get an error. If I remove the last part of the URL I get an error.

I don't have much familiarity with how this site works under the hood so to speak and how that is reflected in the URL of a given gallery.

The best part is that older posts, due to GID not always being assigned chronologically in the early days of the site, now sort out of chronological order, so while the system kinda sorta "works" on newer stuff, all the real old stuff is effectively out of order and even more difficult to find.

What issue are you facing, How did you try to solve it? and what is the expected result?

I tried to solve my issue of not being able to find older galleries with specific tag sets by reading many pages of this thread for information and experimenting with editing parts of various URLs to try to achieve my goal of being able to find older galleries with specific sets of tags. Is this possible or not using the new system? It is my understanding that before a certain date, I don't recall when exactly, GID numbers where not chronological anyway so those galleries will be completely out of order now anyway I believe. I don't mean to come across as angry, I'm just confused man.

EDIT-I think I get how it works now for the most part. How would you jump to a "page" with like 5 specific tags though? What would the resulting URL look like. Thank you. I think if a guide to how this works was stoked fewer people would be as upset as they are.

Man, the new search engine and navigation suck.
Removing pagination at current time where the number of galleries have exponentially increased is literal backwards thinking.

Ah, i don't know about that. that is before tenboro helped maintain all the custom make server. what time? im guessing bewteen GID 1 & somewhere 1000 maybe.

Galleries still have page numbers and searches do not. Why didn't you remove page numbers from galleries for parity with the search?

If your answer is "it would make viewing galleries less pleasant," you understand why your users are upset.

The experience of search results (pages of galleries) is not so different from that of browsing a gallery (pages of images).
In both experiences, a user moves through pages of 20 or so thumbnails until he finds something that he wants to see more of.
He doesn't know the exact location of what he wants to see while he's doing this, which is why being able to jump anywhere in a gallery quickly makes his life easier. He needs a feature that:

1. allows him jump forward or back multiple pages in a single click
2. tells him he landed where he intended to when he did (1)

He needs a page number.

the result is so few. not enough to jump GID. HAHA

Seriously, having no ability to go in between result instead of just first or last is horribly bad and I cannot see how this was supposed to be a good idea at all.

2. Note the GID of that gallery's the number in the URL after the /g/
3. Return to homepage and use the search function and category exclusion system as you always have.
4. Remove the GID number for the URL of the page that results from the search and paste in the GID of the gallery from step 1 and 2. This will get you to a "page" close to where you want to be.

Issues I have not figured out which may or may not have solutions:
1. Once you do step 4 if you want to get to a gallery lets say, 5ish years removed in upload date from the page you were looking at, would you need to remember a gallery uploaded around that date with the correct tags and do steps 1-4 again or could you jump using a GID that would not be included in the tag set?
2. How to find a starting point for step 1 if you don't know of a gallery with the correct tags uploaded at a specific date?

EDIT-Issue 1 seems to not be a problem as you can edit the "next" section of the URL to a GID that is not included in the search result after all.

EDIT#2-Just found another issue. If you try to jump and the GID you enter happens to be occupied by one of the early non-chronological GID numbers you may go to a higher GID by lets say 5000 and end up looking at galleries from the mid 2000s instead of what you wanted.

I know you will not change it and I understand that page number is not necessary to code writer, but I have to say it is a bad UI. This is about user experience, with numbers always better than no numbers.

Does anyone know when GID changed to be strictly chronological? I've been trying the URL editing navigation and I have hung up on ancient galleries a couple times now so I think that either I am very unlucky or there are actually a considerable number of old galleries with non-chronological and often quite high GID numbers.

Can someone fix the titles?

This is extremely clunky. It's frankly baffling that anyone would expect users to go through this process to do some basic searching. The solution is pagination.
