My first post in literally a decade and its gonna be the update rant post, so I guess at least it makes people be more active? (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

But yeah, old page numbers meant that, for large results, I could "jump" by several years' worth of results with ease. That was a solid reason to jump from page 1 to page 60/120/180 of 500+ when I wanted to access older art or old manga/doujins from 2012 or 2014s without knowing exact title or artist name.

New update with Next/Back makes this super hard now :C

I'd even be OK if it was a Donator only option or something now :C

Pages were more convenient, sometimes I felt like fapping to loli for example, but didn't have any particular artist in mind so I would just search the loli tag and go to a random page, like page 53 or something. Am I supposed to just guess a random 8 digit number to do that now?

Oftentimes, people will complain about reworks to a site's design or navigation simply because they were used to how it worked before and change is uncomfortable. This is not one of those times. These search navigation changes have made the site significantly more cumbersome and less convenient to use.

I love this site and respect all the work you've put into it.

I just hope that you can somehow bring back some form of pagination and have tags work like they used, without compromising performance on the back-end. There's also some hang-ups while navigating the pages, which never happened before, even some timeouts.

Come back the number pages, I like to read old stuff and now is impossible

Look... I understand it had to be done, but please don't say the new system is better than the old one, this is simply terrible especially for people who have lots of favorites saved like me

It seems to only work on Minimal or Minimal+, in thumbnail and the others it does not.

Bring back page numbering.

If you guys decide to migrate search, please don't update suddenly.
If you could provide a beta version (or provide an option to roll back to a previous version) and tell everyone "we decided to fully migrate to the new system in xx days", at least people wouldn't be as angry as they are now.
And the reality is that you don't respect the habits of old users at all, and you don't give people the habit of getting used to the new system for a while.
I'm sure there are more users who barely knew this forum existed or never used it with similar opinions. You didn't even announce the change at the top of the website. Most people will have a hard time understanding why their favorite website suddenly removed the page number bar, let alone what a GID is.
I hope you guys will revisit this decision, especially at a time when most people in this thread are unhappy about it.

I will join the chorus about page numbering, or a functionality that mimics it, is 1000% necessary to the average persons use of the site. It is so tone deaf to say that removing it is an improvement. I get the need for the backend reworks, and I appreciate the effort, but we can't be losing critical functionality.

Why don't we remove the pages from the forum posts as well? You don't need to click on specific pages, you just need to learn a GID to navigate to the right, sort of, area where you want to look may be.

You "solved" a non existant problem and created several for the user.

The OR search and exclude only search were definitely in demand, and shouldn't be played down.

But as the monkey paw curls it would definitely seem we've just swapped out one set of problems for another.

After trying to do my daily vigilante work with this I can conclude that the lack of page numbers is a pain, can only depend on dates to get a sense of progress now as I move through searches to tag stuff. Actually ended up buying a hath perk to have more results per page to lessen the blow from this, even though I really preferred it with search results spread across smaller chunks....

New way of searching low power tags is a mixed bag, being able to search only low power tags has some potential but multi-tag searches now requiring all of the tags to be low power is a disaster. Having no way to search downvoted tags anymore really gets in the way of cleaning up after tag abusers trying to erase a specific tag (like the recent crusade against Gender Morph) or reviving tags that have retroactively been made valid (happens very rarely, but Gender Change being allowed on a lot of content that Gender Bender wasn't allowed on still has a gargantuan amount of work left in it)

Feel like the page loads have also been a bit slower today, probably the result of people straining the servers by having to load dozens of pages to get where they want to go instead of just jumping to the right one once.

Can we not have a page numbering system that is basically "click next x times" instead of being tied to an index?

Hi Tenboro. I'm going to have to agree with everyone here and ask you to bring back the page numbering. I've been using this site since 2008, I love sadpanda and I would gladly contribute $$ to pay for the cost of this feature. Please reconsider

I can now reopen pages from History and still see the same results (one I get enough records with the new system), cool stuff.

Here's an idea/script I wrote quickly that I think should help with jumping around quickly similar to how it was possible with pagination:

For non-empty search, would also be nice to lookup the minimum GID, or you'll end up with a lot of empty space.

As opposed to guessing a 3-4 digit number? Yes, I'd say it's even more random.

Didn't realize how much I use the page numbers until they are gone...

I don't post ever.

I've marked a lot of favorites, and now it's cumbersome to look for something from this sites middle years.

With normal search, I type in tags and am just told "Found many results" with no clear indication of how many galleries match my search, or how many pages I'll have to scroll through to find something good that I haven't already read. I add tags, and now have no idea how many results were included/excluded compared to my previous search...

Trying to find a gallery that I stumbled upon in the past and didn't save or bookmark and only vaguely remember is now painfully tedious. If you can remember the relevant tags for the gallery then sure; but not all gallery's have the tags you think they should have either. You're just left going page to page with no idea where you are in your own search anymore.

Feels bad.
