I dont think I ever posted something in this forum but I want to express my disappointment in the removal of the page numbers. Lets hope that the new improvements for the search function compensate for this atrocity.

They're not gonna, it's not gonna get better than this, they don't care.

I have a solution that works well enough for most people.

CODE
?f_search=english&prev=2366597

You see this in the URL?

If you change 2366597 to 1566597 in the URL it will take you back to the ~2019 era

Is editing the URL like this as good as clicking page numbers? No, but it accomplishes the same goal. Just change that number and you'll get the age range.

Hopefully this could be worked into the UI as a form of pseudo-page numbers.

I understand this change was down because the old system was too computationally intensive for the servers and I'm trying to be understanding.

I don't like the loss of page numbers, but if the search engine was breaking the servers it's maybe justified. But the idea of navigating search results by editing the URL is one of the most ass backward thing I ever heard.

The only solution I can thing to make this mess usable would be for a method to quickly jump around GIDs.

A set of buttons besides the First Previous Next Last with something like > (jump 1000 GID) >> (jump 10.000 GID) and >>> (jump 100.000 GID)

This way you could still hunt around dates without having to play guess the number.

I don't post much but removing the page numbers at least when using the search function was a thing I did all the time and helped me go back to where I left off. I would go through every single page.

Thanks for your work.
If we can not rollback old version.
Can we use hath perks or donation level unlock function ’page number‘?

I am wondering if this is a bug, or I'm doing something wrong. In the advance options, I set the minimum rating to 4 and click search, and it works for that page. But once I click next page it resets/removes the minimum rating. So now I see results with less than 4 stars. If I try to redo the filter, then I end up just going back to the first page again.

This new update makes the paging enlargement perk a must.

QUOTE(Tenboro @ Nov 2 2022, 05:38) *

Fixed some instances where it would produce invalid queries and error out if intermediary results were empty. (There would be no results in this case anyway.)
Concisely, instead of navigating to "results on <pagenumber>" you navigate to "results immediately following <galleryid>" or "results immediately preceding <galleryid>" depending on whether you are going forwards (from newer to older) or backwards (from older to newer). So you can navigate all of the galleries from start to end, you just can't go to "pagenumber=364" because the system doesn't know what that is.
If you look at the URL, you'll see "next=number" or "prev=number" at the end of it. This number is the gallery id, and you can change it to whatever to go to the results immediately following (next) or preceding (prev) that gallery.
It's gone as the index has grown to a size where it's not computationally feasible to have it anymore.
If you explain why you need to go to page 50, I'll tell you how it's intended to work with the new search engine.

It's now incredibly difficult to find and organize the old favorites, not to mention just navigating through the gallery in general. I am not the only one speaking out in asking you to please reconsider.

Can we at least get the range of current results displayed on the page? How am I supposed to tell which results I am actually looking at?

I want to see results from a certain time period.
Is there a filter option for upload date in the new search engine?

You just committed one of the sins of GUI and page design - making it less intuitive for common user.
I've read admin responses answering that this change is making search engine better equipped with more advanced tools, but admins didn't put themselves in place of common user with very basic knowledge for page navigation.

Being on this site for 10 years it was a comfort to use it in a simple and intuitive manner, new change to numbered pages (which was used by me and a lot of other users constantly) is breaking the comfort zone with the site.
As I have a very large number of favorites I liked to randomly got to a page from a certain period of time to search for anything that could interest me.

Seeing how many angry responses this change generated it would be wise to consider rolling the back, or implementing numbered pages for this update.

The problem is that is that pagination was one of the things that, according to 10b was making the site choke.

To me, I think we need a Gallery ID jump box, either moving to a number, or moving an arbitrary number up or down, and a search-by-upload-date function, where we can throw in a date range and have it filter that way.

Like I can do some back of napkin math to slide up and down based on gallery ID number because I almost only use this site with a full-size web browser. But it's a nightmare for mobile, I can imagine.

sometimes I will get the wrong results

Honestly? I'd be satisfied with a date range, the searches are already ordered by date so being able to jump to a date range would be better than remembering an id.

One thing I'd like to request.
If page selector has to go please add ID slider or jumping function or whatever to replace it so it's easier to set the &next= in the url.
It's hard to navigate now
