What happened to galleries and search bar. No pages anymore, thats fine. But even after 3 weeks of trying to search for a certain tag. No new galleries were added???? Its like theres no updates at all, for example if i search for handjob tag, before there was constantly new dojusnhi every day. Now with new bar. 0 in 3 weeks

You're either doing something horribly wrong or some outdated userscript is messing something up.

Yeah, I'm aware. It's not so much of an oversight as me thinking people might get more confused by the "why would I seek forwards, I'm on the first page" semantical disconnect. (Or maybe I just couldn't be bothered to add the necessary hooks to change the span to an anchor tag and hoped no one would notice.)

Would it be possible to re-implement things like page numbers and simultaneous searches of expunged/low-power galleries behind a paywall? Would that reduce server use significantly enough for the general free user-base while also funding the increased server use for those of us who might be willing to drop some coin to have those features back?

Not really, no. The new search engine fundamentally doesn't work with "pages", and we can't keep the old search engine as an alternative due to a combination of maintenance overhead and database memory usage for the old index tables, overall technical complexity/debt, and the original reason it was replaced which is that it just performs like shit and will become increasingly broken over time.

As for combined expunged/low-power searches, it's just fundamentally designed not to do that since splitting the index is such a massive performance gain. And it's not as simple as "just search both indexes then combine them" since a gallery could have tag1 in the weak tag index and tag2 in the active tag index, which means that searching "tag1 + tag2" wouldn't have a hit in either index.

At some point it might become possible to do those kind of searches for a single tag only, after a future tagging table revamp, but probably not for complex queries.

Is there anyway to filter out galleries by image count? I just want to filter all those lazy galleries that have 2 - 4 images only.

still the same way as before in the advanced search options "Between [] and [] pages", just put 2 or whatever in the first text box and leave the other one empty.

I agree. I'm going to press next 5 times anyway, so the server will do the same work anyway. The limit is 1000 entries for search so might as well let me navigate up to 50 pages next. That might be too much but at least 5.

Wouldn't just selecting 1 or 2days and press jump do the same thing?

This script adds buttons to jump quicker.

Man ... i havent touch this site for so long now i came back to enjoy this. then this seek and jump thing is confusing as helllllll. I like it when i had the numbers and i can click the page number of where i left off to look for stuff.

I really dont get it. what if for example I looked through 24 pages of things. next week i come back, the site has updated with new Doujinshi and my page gets pushed. how can i estimate which page i was? like how would i know where i left off....

That was a problem with the old system, pages would push back with time, this no longer happens. If you save/bookmark the url, and come back to it in a week now, it'll be exactly where you left off. You can also remember the date of where you got up to, and seek to that as well.

Requesting the option to enable "favnote:" by default (without having to type it). A checkbox or something.

I mainly use the fav search to find my notes and liked the older version where I could simply search "much plot". I'm sure most people are confused why they can no longer search through their notes.

No offense to those that worked on the new search engine, BUT. I am gradually starting to hate the new Seek/Jump feature. I can see its usefulness but I for one would like the option of searching by page number when it suits me.
Worse yet, I can no longer just type a page number into the URL to get to where I want, which makes the changes even more irritating.

But I'm begging on my knees to PLEASE have an estimate of many results there are for multi-term searches. Having just "many" for anywhere from 5 to over 10,000 results is insane. Even a rough estimate will do

If I have to click through my results 25 at a time I at least want to know how long it'll take for me to click to the end
