I've just tried this combination on the mirror and I get an red message saying that it's ignoring the last two tags.

These are actually an valid combination of tags, but it says thatnit's ignoring the condom and another tag or two, and that I should use quotes around one of them.

And if I run too precise of an search, I also get nothing.

Search Term Limits

Exclusions and inclusions now have separate limits. A query can have up to 5 name+tag inclusion terms, 10 name+tag exclusion terms, and 10 comment+favnote inclusion+exclusion terms.

I really don't mind the lack of page numbers. The only thing that I think would help would be something that tells you how deep you are into the search results. At least something that says that you're looking at "100-150 of 300" to let you know how deep you are when you're browsing. It's just so disorienting without that.

Some fixes:

- Corrected an issue with tag/name searching in uploader results.

- Corrected glitchy behavior with the new jump/seek selector on the favorite page, as well as an issue with the favorite checkbox selector positioning.

- Corrected seek/jump offsets not being kept if you switched display mode (minimal/compact/etc) right after using it.

I wonder, is this a figure of speech or it really improves performance by a factor of 1000? It's quite a feat.

For uploader and favorite searches it is up to three orders of magnitude, yeah. For example searching for "uploader:romanicyte yaoi" on the old one would be on the order of >3 seconds walltime to build the result unless it's cached, and for the new one it's about 0.004 seconds. For other searches it's "only" about two orders of magnitude.

That's exactly what I need too. It's very important to have some kind of indication of how far we are from the first and last pages, when pages were numbered it was easy and straightforward but now we have absolutely no ballpark to go off of other than knowing the total number of entries and results per page but when you have more than 3-4 pages it's hard to not get lost. There has to be a way to implement some kind of pointer that would show us how deep we are into the page browsing, or how close we are to the mid-way point, anything at all. Because with the way things are currently it's awfully confusing.

Also, it would be nice to bring back the total count of favorites, with all the categories summed up.

You are in the right thread, but that's already been answered, I recommend reading the first pages of the thread. The removal of page numbers was a necessity, if it was possible to just have both, it'd not have been changed to begin with.

You can estimate how deep you are by gallery dates (and you can search by gallery date too).

When you click Jump/Seek and hover over the box, it gives you a tooltip on how to use it, but lemme know if you need help with that.

A pseudo "next-page generator" can help adjust browsing behavior.

but let's leave this add-on to 3rd party.

For me, jump/seek is cool.

I don't see how. That requires going to the last page every time just to see when the uploads started within a given search, and dates are not a reliable metric because the frequency of uploads tends to fluctuate year by year. Like in the "how-to" tag most of its content was uploaded just within the last 3-4 years even though the start date was some 15 years ago. Dates are good and all but they're just not very helpful for this.

If you want to report an issue with the search engine not working as it should, please include the link to the actual search result as well as a link to the gallery you think should/shouldn't have been included.

Several special characters are stripped by the indexer and won't be searchable as such, though in general leaving it in the search query should still work.

Edit: Actually, I see your problem. That search should be working now, thanks for the report.

Tenboro as for favorites page, do you plan to add some of the following in the future?

-results count while searching inside favorites
-some sort of position while navigating, for example "100-125 of 500"

You mean just the total sum of favorites across all categories? It's trivial to calculate, so I might add a readout for it when I get around to doing a planned overhaul on the favorite system. Eventually.

Probably not. I'll look into the possibility of adding some sort of positional hint, but anything exact would almost certainly be really wonky and unreliable. (It always was fairly misleading, at least with filtering enabled.)

Report a search engine bug:
keywords contains both English and Japanese won't work correctly.
The old search has a option to search title only to avoid this issue, now it's gone.
There is an example keywords "JK退魔部", retuen nothing now.

Try title:"JK退魔部"

ngl this threw me off a ton thought it was some fucked up shit other sites do to limit u but good explanation for hte why and how . its not perfecf but with seek i think it is very workable and way better than basically hiding a ton of content if u cant think of the perfect combo of tags to use browsing deep back, like limiting tends to do
