Iv'e found maybe one or two things, but that's only because they didn't know where all the other stuff went to. Unfortunately for one person, the stuff they were looking for was just a single picture which they thought belonged to a set.

As for actually trying to find rare books, Ebay wouldn't be a bad place to try since the sellers ship worldwide.

yeah, I noticed this thread seems to have only been talking about translation bounties thus far. I could understand their popularity of course, but for me personally, it's not really something I'd want to request since I can easily get by on raws. If there's been any success with scan bounties, I'd love to hear about it.

Well, "Find this manga" type bounties are hit and miss because people don't usually intend on buying a for a stranger. But I have heard of a few where someone happen to have something but they follow up with "I have to get around to scanning it". With that said, the purpose of this thread was to be meant as a way to maybe get some of the more easily obtainable translation bounties completed.

I'm starting this thread in hopes of building up some discussion and support in the hope of finding some members who did, or can do translations/editing for bounties and to get some of the long standing bounties finally completed instead of just sitting there rotting away with some random joker accepting it and never, ever claiming it laughing maniacally at the thought of it.

Not that there's anything wrong with talking about hard to find mangas. But some are just really hard to find.

The key point is to make this thread - or rather, the bounty system - popular. The more people participate, the more likely it is that we will reach people who can buy & scan things.

I can imagine that they may be people who would be willing to buy and scan manga in exchange for some translations, for example.

so, for my first bounty, I'm thinking about requesting a scan of [doujinshi.mugimugi.org] this. I don't think it's too hard of a find. Yo-Metdo seems relatively well-known, and though this particular book is out of print by now, it's still kinda recent. Considering this, but also given the general difficulty of getting scans, do you all think 20,000 credits, 20,000 GP, and 15 hath sounds good enough for a starting price?

EDIT: Got my bounty posted.

Since is ~2x an average translation bounty, I'd say yes. On the other hand, we are really testing the waters here, and with a very tiny sample, so...

Having just had a dojin translated in <12h since I posted the bounty, I think that the times are good for dojin translations (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Ha, and even a find-a-dojin bounty has been completed, with a dojin scanned for our bounties: https://forums.e-hentai.org/index.php?showtopic=25960

We are on the roll!

I guess I'll throw in my thoughts as well as a translator which is pretty much the same as rookie84. I only use the GP to download things either I'm too lazy to use some of the Japanese P2P networks or something not much incentive for me. I'm the same as Yamato-san, I'm more interested in getting something that hasn't come out and those should be higher considering people have to either pay for it and scan it which takes time like translation but with added cost of paying for it.

For the bounty system, they should at least have a sub category for translations since it would be easier to see as I am rather lazy and don't want to go through it. Personally, amount doesn't really matter to me as long as I like it since I just do this for fun and practice.

Out of curiosity, what exactly is the general rate a translation/editing bounty should be put at normally?

If you put amount larger than now is largest bounty, you will get more chances. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

IMO, Red_Piotrus's bounties are more than fair, so you can follow his example. I'll also say that his and Super Shanko's policy of splitting up translating and editing is a good idea, as there aren't a lot of people who can translate to begin with and even fewer who can also edit. I did one of his bounties today, but I wouldn't have bothered if I had to edit the thing as well.

I am trying to pay 500 GP + 500 creds + 0.5 hath for a page, roughly, translate wise, and half that again for the editing (which is usually done by Super Shanko). This seems to generate decent results.

If I am asking for non-Japanese translation, I will pay less, because there are more people who can do it (plus, I am learning that a lot of non-Japanese translations are undeclared rewrites... grrr :>).

I have less experience with scan bounty, but recent discussion indicates it should be AT LEAST as high as a translation+editing bounty, if not higher.

hey, I had a thought: would it be too much trouble to have the bounties section divided into sections? We could have different sections for scan requests, translation requests, edit requests, as well as miscellaneous stuff (like identifying sauce and whatnot). I think this way, aside from making the search for certain bounties easier, such tags could maybe even attract people capable of doing particular tasks.

I'm starting to wonder how many people actually look at the top ten most wanted doujins. I've only had 3 accepts, 2 of which were from before my bounty was in the top ten. I've also had 2 people try to claim with a obviously different doujin >.>. Good thing I'm starting to remember checking more often. One of em apologised by PM though, wich was nice of him.

Has anyone else had similar false claims? And is the bounty system really that unpopular at the moment? I keep pouring credits/gp/hath as I get them into my bounty, but as of yet have had little success.

Bounties for finding content are rarely fulfilled, because doing so would usually involve spending real money. Requests for translations, on the other hand, are often successful.
