Does anyone have advice for removing a threaded screw on a laptop heatsink?
I want to replace the thermal paste but the manufacturer over torqued the screws using an electric screw driver and used locktite.
The only tip i got so far was to get a thick rubber band and put it on top of the screw for extra traction.
From memory the other other technique I used once was epoxy, get a sacrificial screw driver and expoxy it to the top of the screw to be able to turn it.
I'm very late to reply, but try cutting a notch in it with a dremel and using a flathead screwdriver.
That or pliers if you can get them in there
if it's recessed in a hole and you can't cut a notch, then things get much more complicated. But sometimes I've been able to drill screws out with a sufficiently hard drill bit.
