I'm already since over 10 years registered at e-hentai.
Since then I became part of several private tracker communities and share a lot and got decent ratios.
I would love to contribute to e-hentai but somehow I still don't get the system here.
It seems torrents can be downloaded without an account for free from the galleries if available. But if I'm logged in then it's counted towards me download/ratio.
It seems to be recommended to use a script/scraper to download the galleries instead of using torrent to do so. Also because not every gallery has a torrent attached.

Are there any freeleeches here?

The while Hentai@Home system seems to need a custom client. Also to be eligible someone has to fulfill several criteria (which I can fulfill, but I mind the force for a customized client). So is this the only way to actually contribute seeding wise? Why is it not possible to use one of the mainstream torrent clients like qBittorrent for that?

Quite some of what I have said might be wrong. I try to better my understanding to find a way to contribute here. Because I prefer seed 2TB of endangered mangas instead of seeding random mainstream TV series.

Also barely passed google recaptcha to post here.

You can use qbitorrent to seed (I use this just fine), it might be you are misunderstanding what h@h is used for?

Scraping isn't recommended, since chances are you will be pulling the resampled pages, it's better to use gp to download the archive first (I've send you some credits, you can receive it here: https://hentaiverse.org/?s=Bazaar&ss=mm&filter=inbox , and will last longer if you further convert it to gp here: https://e-hentai.org/exchange.php?t=gp )

You don't really need to worry about the up/down ratio, it doesn't effect anything.

If you are doing it for the gp/toplist points, then you need to be the one to create the torrent (or alternatively have the torrent made on one of your own uploads)

Torrents do not count towards your regular download limit (that's the GP stuff), logged in or not. As Shank said, the torrent download/seeding ratio does not matter.

H@H is used to serve images for normal gallery browsing. That's why you can't use a torrent client: Web browsers don't speak the bittorrent protocol; they need something that acts like a web server. As far as I know, H@H works like a distributed database and custom CDN for e-hentai.

If you decide to run a H@H client, that's entirely separate from the torrent system. In particular, it does not count as "seeding" (but you will receive other benefits).

Thanks you both for your good and friendly replies, that is quite some new input for me. Surprisingly positive.

I'm surprised about H@H. I was very skeptical but now I'm reading the source code and it surprisingly well written. I also qualify for the requirements.

Is there any way to automatically download galleries and create torrents from them? As I mentioned there are several galleries which don't have any torrent attached. But the option to upload a torrent file. How is the best process for that?

About Torrents: Do I understand correctly that the Ratio doesn't matter? That is unusual to hear. That's why I'm asking again. So is there any benefit for seeding them then?

Especially thanks to @Shank for giving the credits.
How does it make a difference if I store the GP or the Credits? I found out how to convert them.

I'm also on IRC under the name SmoothieDapper. I would love to continue the discussion there too

Probably something you'd need to make a script for, I dunno if one exists already off hand. Information here might be relevant https://ehwiki.org/wiki/API

Yeah it doesn't matter. If you create the torrent yourself or its on one of your uploads, torrent completes reward you some gp and ehtracker toplist points, unrelated to the up/down ratio. It doesn't prevent you from downloading if you have a bad ratio or anything, even if you only ever download, it's purely for informational purposes.

The benefit is mostly keeping torrents alive longer

If a gallery costs 1000c to download, it'll also cost 1000gp. 1000gp at the current exchange rate is about 470~ credits, so you roughly double the value for downloading purposes. When you buy gp, you buy it in lots of 1000, so if you buy 1 at 470c, you are actually buying 1000 gp

It's also worth noting that if you upload a torrent on an older gallery, if the torrent doesn't register a completed download within 30 days it'll be pruned from the system. So if you do go ahead and start seeding torrents on older galleries try to make sure they get at least one complete.

7 days actually so yeah for the most part it's not worth uploading torrents on older galeries unless it's a series that got an update recently and you're feeling generous for the most part.

In my experience, this isn't usually a problem since there are autosnatchers around grabbing (almost) every fresh torrent. So you should get at least a handful of downloads, no matter how obscure the gallery is.
