QUOTE(Mags_ @ Dec 10 2022, 13:35) Tokyo Babylon Part One. Thanks. QUOTE(Mags_ @ Dec 10 2022, 13:35) YOU POSTED THIS. Yep, I did. About 20 minutes. I knew it was from here I just didn't know where. Then it started bugging me.

QUOTE(dragontamer8740 @ Nov 27 2022, 10:32) Yep, I've had plenty of those already. At one point it was horizontally collapsed because of one, and at another point the built-in speakers were totally non-functional because of them. At one point I remotely diagnosed someone's problem with a CRT of theirs that wouldn't sync and had no power LED on as needing a 7812 voltage regulator reflowed. I think this particular monitor is especially susceptible to dry solder joints, being Korean-made from the early 90's. I found a burned out resistor, replaced it and nothing changed. So now I'm going to replace the transistor that that resistor was connected to the collector of. When this thing actually works, it's a great monitor. Old pic. (IMG:[ i.imgur.com] https://i.imgur.com/yE2DK9tg.jpg) OMG I used to have that same kind of VCR.

QUOTE(Satoru @ Dec 11 2022, 14:35) OMG I used to have that same kind of VCR. Bought it at a garage sale around 12-14 years ago for $1. It's been a good investment. Though it might need a head cleaning. I think I said this already, but I fixed the monitor. It was the transistor itself. This post has been edited by dragontamer8740: Dec 11 2022, 21:36

Remember how I said I wanted to have some anime laserdiscs?
Well, I bought some. Bubblegum Crisis and Ranma 1/2 mostly. Got one Gunsmith Cats OVA on the way too. Going to pick up a laserdisc player today. I'm long overdue for one.
Wish I could find a "reference disc" (the official calibration disc pioneer used to make). Seems the last stock dried up last year.
Hope it works. The seller knows it plays CD's but doesn't have LD's to check that functionality. I suspect it is from an estate sale. It's a high end model. I'm bringing my North By Northwest discs to test it. From what I gather, they use the same laser for LD and CD playback, so I'm hopeful. If the spindle motor is the same as well, then I think we're golden.
It comes with the remote. Thinking of getting a Domesday Duplicator for it at some point after I've recovered from these purchases and done more work on my car.
Wish I'd bought a Terminator LD when I had a chance a few months ago. If it had been Terminator II, I would have put down money for it without a second thought, despite not having a player. But I still like the first film. I did get "Seven Samurai" and "Hidden Fortress" though.
One of the BGC discs I got comes with a promotional flyer and poster.
I ignore the later terminator movies because the US is dying and further sequels were unnecessary.

Terminator 3 was not without its charm. It still sucks compared to T2 QUOTE(AhumanRS @ Feb 10 2023, 19:19)

I live in the T1, T2 and Sarah Connor Chronicles timeline. It kinda went wrong with T3, Salvation, Genesis and Terminator TexMex. Salvation could have been good if they didn't puss out, one ending they put the face of Connor on the terminator after he died. That would have been metal. Terminator TexMex was like Fuck T2, we are doing our own expectation destroying stunning and brave version where Terminator has a dick, and the future is female.

I looked that up. Metal indeed. They should've gone with that. QUOTE(EsotericSatire @ Feb 10 2023, 20:53) Terminator TexMex was like Fuck T2, we are doing our own expectation destroying stunning and brave version where Terminator has a dick, and the future is female.
The only good thing about it was watching the kid from T2 getting murdered. Otherwise we don't talk about that movie here.

Why are home owner associations such a menace in the US? We keep seeing horror stories from the US here.
Here most of it seems to be disputes between neighbors, disputes over modifications, and disputes over insurance.

Because they tell you what you aren't allowed to do with the land you "own," and because of busybodies being the only ones who make up the HOA's. Great for power tripping. HOA's are why the US needs guns. Finding a good UV protectant glass frame for Japanese B2 posters is troublesome. Got a nice poster with an LP I imported at the same time as the LD's. I think for the first 12 seasons he a was doofus but with family orientated values. From Season 13 he was increasingly just a force of chaos without grounding put into situations to either move the plot forward or to comically destroy everything around him. "I am all that remains, surrounded in ruin, testament to the decline of humanity. Doh" - Homer Simpson Maybe because it was a slice of life sitcom based on the American dream but the dream itself is dying. I think most here are semi-reasonable but it depends on their scope. There was on place I was looking at buying (but I lost at auction because 200 people turned up), the list of rules they had was excessively extensive. It was like they were trying to turn the place into a retirement village. They wanted you to get permission if you were having more than two guests over and all this other stuff. The dream never existed. The show even acknowledged how unrealistic it was by inserting a foil. See: Frank Grimes when he visits the Simpsons' home for dinner. Looking at the photos on the wall, all the nice things the family has, etc.. that they all take totally for granted. What's this? 'Extremely high voltage!' Well I don't need safety gloves because I'm Homer Sim-! This post has been edited by dragontamer8740: Feb 14 2023, 02:45
