Due to the magnification on twitter, many entertainment companies focused on the loudest 10%, who only represent 1-2% of their actual customer base.

The other angle are all the corpos that claim if they are helping society by virtue signaling random nonsense that has no actual positive impact on the real world or the bottom line, then we should give them tax breaks.


Combined this is why a whole bunch of franchises, brands and IP have been flushed down the toilet.


Japan also did female, lgbt, and trans characters better in the 90s than the US today who spent billions and decades trying to do it. Just do good characters... seems like an alien concept.

Fate/Stay Night. and Evangelion(pretty sure this one got reversioned a lot and the most up-to-date one seems the best to me.

There was a remake of Gundam Seed Destiny but the so-called HQ version seems just a "upscale in resolution" to me.

I forget if there's a remake on the fate line(FSN 2006), but the UBW line was remaked into tv anime from the original movie and furtherly has a reworked movie version few years later.

I may mess them up since there are too many versions.

They talked about making them a secret plot twist sequel but Hideaki Anno's depression got in the way so kinda just came off as another alt remake. By the last movie he was being crushed by the pressure to complete the series in a way that satisfied himself and everyone again.


Production team: He kinda now just sits in the corner staring at us blankly for hours, we have no clue if we are doing the right thing or not in meetings.

Full metal Alchemist Brotherhood and Hunter X Hunter were examples of good remakes. Fate Stay Night : Unlimited blade works and Hellsing Ultimate were also pretty good.

Friends said Negima!? was better than the original.


Its hard to do remakes right, they need a solid reason for the remake, like the first series ending early, then you need to both pay homage to the original but also be original and better.

Shows like the Fruits Basket and Legends of Galactic heroes remakes, almost are like uncanny valley to me because they tried to match the original closely shot for shot in parts but is different timing and VAs. So its close enough but different enough to be annoying.

The worse was probably the Code Geass movie remakes. The original was a cluster fuck that accidentally or skillfully worked, like walking a tight rope. The movies cut out the 'boring' and 'funny' parts but then it threw the narrative timing off. By trying to focus on the 'good' bits, they ended up making it boring as there were no slow segments to make the drama punch.
